Thanks man, yeah I would be interested. Is it an original or JAMMAconversion ?

I believe it to be an original Electrocoin Arkanoid. Anyhow it's £200 - they accepted. If you are interested arrange it with Martin the Deliveryman.

Is this the one with the rusted gun?

Would love to see(and use) some detailed before and after pics to put on the NERG FB page as the pic I uploaded pulled a few heart strings!

Of course, no problems, if I get a chance I'm going to start & do some cleaning in the next few days, I wonder if its best to do a restoration thread on the cab so you can take the pics from there?

Totally put a restore thread up Indy. Would be great to see all these cabs getting restored on here.

Any ballasts in the spares? Quite hard to get the 50hz 120v ones these days

Just to much gear to go through, unfortunatly parts like this would have to be got in person,or mentioned to someone before they arrived, there really is soooooo much stuff to look through and so little time to do it,i actually left too much behind, and am thinking of returning

Great raid and great pictures! But did I miss something somewhere? I can't find the back story to this raid...like where did it all begin? how did it come about?

Yes you do!

I should be setting another one up in the next month or two. I need some time off it's quite stressful

OK... sit rep...

Pole Position (full size) - No idea - can't get to it yet (right at the back as it was the first one unloaded).

PP1 (midi) - Switches on - Defo been converted (i.e. it's NOT a Pole Position board) - Sound ok (albeit a little quiet) - Display has all colours present (at the correct levels, by the looks of things) - Display jumping vertically (probably just needs a tweak - Can't get to the back just yet - too many other machines in the way).

PP2 (midi) - Haven't tried yet - Physically this machine is in the best condition (so it'll probably have most wrong with it
smiley36.gif
). Missing the steering wheel (I have a spare CP, with wheel and gear selector, from the same raid).

Twin Cobra (midi) - Powers up - Solid green line (and nothing else) running vertically down the middle of the screen (looks like a total frame collapse) - Can't get into the back until I find some keys ("250" or "350" IIRC) or drill the lock out. Didn't leave it on for too long (to check for game boot) as I couldn't get inside, and just in case there was more wrong with the monitor.

Ok a little teaser here re the Hot Rod.

As per the pictures I'm sure you have all seen it was suggested by Andy when he delivered it that I change my name to Retrorust....lol

Gave the keys a clean and opened her up (I have a video) as far as I could see everything was there nothing missing. I gave the board a quick dust off, checked there was no stupid cable shorts or anything silly and powered it up.

Disk drive didn't run but everything else seemed to power ok again got loads of pics but you just going to have to wait.

Need time to get the pics sorted onto my laptop etc and going on hols next Sunday.

Hope that's teased you enough.......

Ade,

Can you take a pic of your Twin Cobra boards please? I was the guy that got the other Twin Cobra. I thought there was supposed to be two boards.

OK; sit rep #2 (otherwise entitled "Barns are not the place to store arcade cabs"
smiley36.gif
)...

Twin Cobra (Electrocoin midi) does, indeed, have a double-stacked board. Still not inside yet (may drill lock out at the weekend).

Pole Position (full size). Board in very bad way (localised in middle of the board, at the bottom - probably where a battery *should* go, but I can't see any sign of a battery, just lots of corrosion). Power supply not too bad.

May be costly/impossible to repair... This one might be £200 of scrap parts
smiley19.gif

Pole Position (midi). Has been converted to Great 1000 Mile Rally (as we thought). All Atari power blocks (ALL OF THEM) and boards are AWOL
smiley7.gif
(probably why this cabinet actually works).

Pole Position II (midi). Came with a free mouse nest (sans mouse). Almost all PP1 documentation inside (either a convenient place to stash it, or this has a PP1 board in it). Either way; the board has the same problems as the full size PP1 (although not as bad). Battery has been replaced with a Varta NiCad, which has leaked like a fecker, all over the surrounding components.

Again; repair may be a costly exercise.

So unless I can find a PP1 board (or two) and a PP2 board, or splash out to get these repaired (may be impossible, or at least uneconomical - depending on if ICs can be sourced and whether there's too much track damage), it looks like the Atari cabs are just empty shells (fortunately two, of the three, are structurally sound).

More to follow (much) later when I can get the Twin Cobra monitor repaired (only to find the game board is fecked, most likely) and decide what to do with the Atari cabs (shall clean them up and have a go at the power supplies, but boards aren't my thing - unless the components are easily sourced - but I will still have to stop after replacing all physically damaged components - after that; it's off to a pro).
