The fact that some of these are firing up at the first attempt after so many years unattended amazes me. I leave my cabs alone for 5 minutes and they turn their toes up at the first opportunity!

BARN RAID PART 2 - continued

The machine in front of it was the same cabinet but was an unknown.

We inspected the PCB. Original Taito Bubble Bobble pcb - result!

V. happy for you to have the pcb. Shame we didn't find a second (I'd have called dibs on that one

).

More importantly... Did the board work when you got it home?

The monitor turned out to be none too healthy (nice fizzle-pop sound on power-up).
I shall try to convince Snowy to give it a while (may be something simple, but I'm still very wary of CRTs) before he does something daft (like Maming it up and sticking an LCD in there)!!!

Id say the monitors should only be powerd up for like seconds to see if it runs
then a good clean/re-cap would be a good idea,

i have done 3 so far from the raid .

just a quick power on mainly to check the tube wasnt feked, then onto the bench for rebuild

Oh yeah... It didn't stay powered up for very long (just enough to say "don't like that... turn it off")

A quick look and it appears in reasonable condition (no obvious signs of corrosion, over-heated components, so it may not be too much).

Just a bit hesitant to try my first monitor rebuild (for which I'll almost certainly need some help anyway) on someone else's cab!
