Bootleg PCB Shenanigans

Have just put in the patches roms and all working.
Gives me an incentive to fix the no audio issue I was having on it.

I prefer bootlegs when repairing since they tend to have few customs,it's just the PALs that can trip me up.
So I have quite a few boots and some duplicates so the possibility of converting then sounds good.

They're a mixed bag.
Some are almost a 1:1 clone of the originals, some have customs done via lots of nice discretes....and some have dozens of undumped protected PALs, undumped obscure CPLDs, loads of bodge resistors, zero decoupling capacitors, glitches and massively skimp on stuff like the audio. Life's too short to bother with the latter.

Just got Lightning Swords/Ken-Go running on the same Hammerin Harry Bootleg board I also converted to R-Type II ....
Looks like this board could be good for all IREM M84 (and possibly some M72 games) ....



next up (hopefully) Cosmic Cop ......

Nice work. Understanding the bootleg is key to converting the original M84's. Hopefully everyone that bought an M84 Hammerin Harry may be able to change it to something else eventually

Converting the original should be easier than what I've done with the bootleg but this board cost about £35 and now runs Daiku, R-Type II, Lightning Swords and Cosmic Cop ... Off the top of my head I've not seen an original M84 for sale for under £300/400 so unless I find one for considerably cheaper I'll just to stick to the bootleg

I know they aren't most folks cup of tea ...
But I've been mucking around a bit recently on some unloved booties and just wondering if there's any interest in it ...
Recently worked out a few conversions (with help) and currently playing around patching ROMS to fix annoying errors some have ..
Happy to report any successes and pass on info/roms, but if no-one's really arsed or gonna use it/them, or if it's all been done before (let me know), I won't bother writing them up.
Just gauging interest really ...

Yeah love it mate,booties always good.love em.had a few in the past without knowing what they are,sometimes there like kinder eggs,you never know what your gonna get!
