Dear All,

I have to move out of the tiny flat I share with my bird (seems to happen to quite a few of us - wonder why ;) ). Unfortunately this means I have to find homes for my three remaining cabs.

I can house one, possibly two, but one has to go.

I have a Roby and a Defender which I desperately want to keep. I would consider offers on either (we all know what they're fetching) but would rather sell (grudgingly) my Zaccaria 'The Invaders', which is now working thanks to Mike Coates.

Does anybody know of another working, complete, original Zac Invaders in this country/the world? I've been wondering just how rare it is.

Cheers,

RobH

Are you the bloke near Leeds who had one :)

Yes, I helped repair one at an ex-ops near Ipswich a couple of years
ago. Someone else mentioned they new someone who had one and a few
operators I've spoken to remember seeing them. It's safe to say they're
pretty unusual...

Paul.

So what was the prob, Rob?

No, that's me - mine's still dead (like my Gorf)... and it's missing the
sound board :(

>It's safe to say they're pretty unusual...

So there's no chance of me locating said board then... :(

BTW thanx for the info on the (likely to be) Explorer/Scramble bootleg
board, Paul

To add to the 'me too' replies.... err... me too. I've got a non-functioning Zac "The Invaders" as well - having one
that works seems to be rare ;-) Complete, but dead, and on my long, long list of things to sort out.

I've grown rather fond of it. It was one of the first machines I purchased, and I thought it was a de-facto Space
Invaders. Nope - after looking at pictures of the real things, I decided it wasn't the real thing. So then I started to
resent it slightly. But now I really like it. It's got the sleek glossy artwork of the Tatio (as opposed to the
inferior IMHO Midway), with a slimmer and more compact cabinet, and filled with weird Signetics 2650 technology. A
really interesting curio.

There should be a picture of it on the Internet somewhere. I sent it to one of those "Ghost Picture" websites, as the
shot picked up a swarm of 'orbs' (which is supposedly indicative of a paranormal presence or, as the amateur
photographers at work point out, dust on the lens. Astro Blaster was similarly possessed but the tabletops were
immune.)

Still, Zac's The Invaders is a star, as pointed out before here. Many times, it's sleek lines can be seen in the back
of Del Boy's local (complete with punk playing it.) I noticed a few months back that a red cabinet called "The
Invaders" turned up on the show - looks like Zac made a Part 2 varient?

All the best,
Simon

Hey Rob-ed

Its probably not my place to suggest it, but you dont make mention to
funds... So...

Hev you not considered long-term loaning machine(s) out to people you
know/trust on the list if finance isnt an issue?

I did this with my Roby and Joust which Chad's had for nearly a year
now - with no sign of me wanting them back for another year or
three... The bargain is he maintains and looks after it [ read:
cherishes, plays and pampers them] in return - and I've already told
him I wont take them back without decent, reasonable warning (which
to me means 3-6 months)

Its an option and one you might like to consider... I'm thinking the
same for a couple more machines of mine....

Cheers
Rav

There are at least two rom sets. One has "SUPER INVADERS" or something
as the title but from what Mike said a while back they are nearly
identical (i.e. probably not in a different cabinet - just an upgrade).

I think they are both in MAME now if you want to see what it looks like
for real.

Paul.

Doens't seem to have made mame yet, there obviously busy (?)

The two sets are The Invaders (presumably, no name in the game screens, but
that's what KLOV etc seem to call the first one - and the cab says words to
this affect), the second set is called 'Super Invader Attack' and is
probably the hardest version of invaders that I have played.

If you want any of these, let me know.

I'm slowly amassing a collection of S2650 powered boards, and have
discovered a (normally) cheap old video game console that contains a 2650
and 2636, so should be attempting to breath life into several more soon.

The schematics for the invaders are a bit wooly, even the originals look to
have been copied on a third rate photocopier (they spell INVADERS wrong
too!)

Care to share the name of the console with us or are you cornering the
market?

I also recently discovered that Fluke do an adaptor for their Z80 pod (I
think it's this one...) to allow it to be used in a S2650 CPU socket.

Paul.
