So, this time last week I was sliding my Zaccaria cab into my car and about to start the final leg of the road trip. I've asked a few questions since, but I'm getting there and have created a to do list. I was looking into getting a new cp and cpo done, as two additional buttons had been added but bodged up and without taking geometry into consideration. After closer inspection, a lot of the details are missing from the vector file that I was going to use including the Zaccaria logo. It looks unfinished so, I've decided to restore the original cp. I just wanted to ask, is there anything at all I can do to sort the disfigurement or.....would you guys just put up with it?

Why not scan the artwork yourself and fill in the missing bits? Doesn't look a hard part to re-add.

I also wanted to ask if I will be limited to certain joysticks with the control panel? I can see there is a curcular cut for the old joystick. Sorry if this is a stupid question.

I wouldn't of thought so, wood is just wood, you can pretty much put any joystick there as long as it fits through the hole.

Thanks again. I fancied a ball top joystick over the bat, but would've been okay with one if it had to be the same.

I meant to ask this at the same time as the joystick query....I want to salvage the red buttons but they're currently leaf switch, could they be converted to Cherry micro switches? That's what I want to use for the other buttons I'll be getting.

What you have is more than likely the original joystick & leaf configuration. No need to change it, but if you do I'll take the old JS off your hands

That is a dedicated late style Super Cobra control panel. Whilst you have the overlay off it's worth cleaning and scanning if the only other scan is incomplete/different.

Some games are considered to play better with leaf switch joysticks* (and prob worth a few quid), You kind could convert the buttons with a clever technical method, or a lot of glue gunning

*Personally I'm not a fan, I remember having to 'fix' my Speccy Competition pro joystick quite a bit back in the day

I listed some NOS Joysticks like this on ebay the other day. If you or anyone else can make use of them then let me know and I'll cancel the auction. I didn't realise they were zac style.

I think I'll stick with micro switches then, sounds like it could get messy

I'll mount them on a piece of wood and stick them on the wall or something, along with the old joystick

I did find a scanned cpo after scouring the internet, this one doesn't have cigarette burns either

Thanks for the offer of the joystick(s) they look like a new version of the rusty one. At this stage, I haven't put any thought into what will be replacing the old stuff. There's a long list of things that are needed to restore the cab first....it's giving me brain ache! I've had a virtual play on the dead controls and the bat does feel rather good, but I thought I wanted a ball top, it's all too confusing??!!
