I have a 19" Hantarex model Polo 20 in my cab. Just wondering is it possible to adjust convergence as I can't see any convergence rings on the tube?

I can see the red and blue guns are slightly off, it's not out by alot but picture would be sharper. Is there a H STAT potentiometer on this tube chassis?Gamelife002020-04-30 14:21:08

So there's no easy way to do it on this monitor? I had an exact same problem on a pvm and a hstat knob sorted it
Yeah no such thing as an HSTAT control on a Hanty, you don't find controls like that on arcade monitors usually (not that i've seen anyhow). Your crt sounds like it's a Videocolor (I think Thomson made them), which were statically converged at the factory using a machine, sometimes using a permanent magnet round the neck (apart from early ones for the 900 and 900/E which did have rings built into the yoke assembly), the permanent magnet is usually seen on 25" and larger crts. Other crts like Orion used a normal ring setup. If the convergence is uniformly "off" across the screen you can as said above use a normal set of rings on them but it can be tricky to set them up sometimes. If it's just out in the corners, you may find you can improve the edge or corner convergence by using small adhesive magnets on the rear of the crt. Some of the larger crts did this from the factory using V-shaped adhesive magnets.

Hi mate thanks, it does sound like a fiddle to sort so I'll prob leave it I guess. When I say the convergence is off you can see a slight blue hugh to the left and a red hugh to the right, more noticeable on white text...so those guns are just off centre.,I mean it's a 30 year old monitor so won't be perfect

So did other companies make the tubes for Hantarex, Or did they just make the chassis? Never knew
Yeah Hantarex just made the chassis and frame, I would imagine they had the tubes supplied to them. I'm not sure whether they had them specially made for arcade monitors though, as a lot of arcade tubes can be found in normal consumer TVs of the day. Videocolor, Orion and ITT were the ones i've seen that they usually used for 19", but they used RCA tubes in America (and probably others). Bigger Hanty tubes i've seen are Thomson and Philips (Intervideo, which are similar to Hantarex chassis, tended to use Thomson and Samsung on the 19" and 21" from what i've seen but used Videocolor on larger monitors). I've seen Samsung tubes used in 14" Hanty monitors. Also I think the 10" Hantys have used Toshiba tubes. There are a few exceptions though, for example I think Wells-Gardner in America got Orion to make tubes for them as they had labels that have the WG logo on them, but also say "Made by Orion". WG also used Philips, RCA and Zenith tubes. I've had a few 29" WG tri-sync monitors and they used Thomson and RCA tubes. I've also seen some monitors that have tubes that say "Not for use in domestic TV" on the label, so maybe they were considered ok for arcade monitors but not good enough for TVs. Same goes for Japanese monitors, plenty of them seem to use tubes found in domestic TVs.

Cool thanks, you learn something every day, I'm familiar with pro monitors but very new to the arcade scene. Still strange to me that they wouldn't make convergence adjustable on some tubes, maybe they were just cheap to replace back then
