Defender question

Hi, I am restoring my upright defender and would like to know is the black T moulding supposed to be plain smooth black or black leather effect?
Mine has a strip of each either side.

Also where is the best place in the uk to get it from?

My one was completely stripped, painted black and in a heap when I got it, infact still is, it had the textured stuff though. although as nothing else was original on the entire cabinet it may not have been either.

Hi - faux leathery stuff is I believe the original.

Here's a photo of the one in our office which is a US import - maybe different for the UK versions though...

Leather effect and flat too. Most leather effect T-Moulding is slightly convex and doesn't look the same as the original stuff. I could do with some myself but haven't sourced anywhere yet.

If anyone does know please post!

AFAIK Defender, apart from the Streets versions (UK) were only US made.

Nice spot, I need some too, a shame it's not flat like the original stuff though.

See this has the curve to it and it should be nearly flat. Also most repro leather effect the leather grain is quite shallow and is clearly not the same quality as the original.

I'd sooner stick with my tired original moulding until I source some decent stuff....

Ok thanks for the replies, I too will try and source the flat faux leather effect if it originaly came with it.
