Discharging a monitor

Hi all looking for a wee bit of advice on discharging a monitor,the monitor has been off for about 3 days it's a hantarex mtc900/e I've been told to use a flat headed screwdriver wrapped in wire and then ground it,is it a certain thickness of wire, would the wire from an old coat hanger do,do you need to wrap the screwdriver in duct tape or electrical tape.
An info is appreciated.

I use a large plastic / rubber handled flat-head screwdriver with the some thick gauge wire (one of the brown or blue wires in household twin and earth would do). Solder or crimp a crocodile clip to one end and strip the other so you can tie it around the base of the screwdriver where it meets the handle. Put some electrical tape around the knot so it doesn’t move around. Clip the wire to the monitor frame and with one hand in your back pocket, use your other hand to slide the flat-head of the screwdriver under the anode cap. Pop. Done 👍
