Ok so wasn't as fortunate as some to own a original donkey kong cabinet so have gone down this route instead.

I started planning this a few years ago and finally got round to starting it, the cabinet is roughly 75% the original size. Obviously you can see the cabinet was built by a J+ friend, wasn't the original plan as it was to be a scratch build but using some professional skills of a member here this seemed a good way to start :)

Its not there yet... but you get the idea.

There's more planned to this to make this almost a 100% cabinet replica. I have started a blog on the information I have found out along the journey and then hopefully the journey in trying to get some good scores on the games inside.

BLOG HERE: http://www.nintendoid.co.uk/donkeykong/

There will a few pointless questions and also anyone thats got a ninty cabinet I'm sure to hassle about information on the original cabinet.

will update the blog with your scores :)

ok good/bad news today on the replica coin door....

Good News

The coin door came today and looks great, seems the size and dimensions were correct and the rounded corners and the square holes seemed perfect.

Bad News

Some idiot got the H/W the wrong way around..

yeah that would have been me, however this is the first build and prototype cabinet of what will be more so its not 100% loss and its still works in principle.

Once some coin plates are on there the door will look great :)

the coin door had to be remade due to being 75% size compared to the original, but come out well just nothing to compare it to :p

That is nice looking work there dude! Very nice indeed. Can't wait to see the finished version. You'll have to put something else in th picture so we can get an idea of scale :)

You considered using a 14" portable TV (with SCART hack) or even a 17" VGA CRT rather than the TFT screen ? Would make the cab look so much better IMHO, and you can generally pick them up for free from freecycle, friends or the local recycling center :)

Either way, congratulations on the work so far, the cabinet looks real sweet.

the ratio of the original 19" monitor to the 75% build and with measurements it seems a 15" vertical CRT is the way to go running mame.

I have the CRT monitor the LCD was just to see something in there :) Aiming to fit a monitor this weekend :)
