Well I'm glad I put in MK Grid switch banks so I can turn them on one double socket at a time, nothing much to go wrong and nothing powered if the switches are all off :)

I wont say much as most answered above. The cable will be calculated by the CCC (Current carrying capacity) this is depending on length, type of installation and overall amps required. I would suggest all machines have switches as you can turn them on independently , Its going to be very rare (Depending on how many machines you have and I suppose how authentic you want it ) to have all machines turned on and operating. As mentioned most of the rush of amps is when the machine's are turned on so depending on how many there is this can trip the circuit. RCBO's are better and prices are not too much more ( A while ago they were silly money so no one used them ). You should only need a standard small 60A Consumer unit that is not to expansive either. I doubt you will need bigger than 4mm SWA cable either but again not seen the length ect.

One thing I will be doing when I convert my garage to an arcade / bar is have 99% of it Alexa controlled IE ' Alexa turn on machine 1 ' and on it pops ! Same with lights ect.

All the above is based on what you have said and I have not seen the job so you electrician should advise !!!!!!

Dave.

P.S I am a Qualified electrician (Although I dont practice nowadays :) )
we are probably talking about 30-40 metres

Thats a fair way !!! Probably 6mm If its clipped direct & using a 40A box (49 metres ). You can have a 6amp for lighting and a 32amp for ring main (Ring mains are rarly used now but it seems lots of smaller type use these). I have looked at mainly mcb boxes as there is more of them.

Box i would use :- https://www.screwfix.com/p/british-...le-2-way-populated-garage-consumer-unit/453vf

cable :- https://www.screwfix.com/p/prysmian-6943x-black-3-core-6mm-armoured-cable-50m-drum/36123

Oh and the clips (You cant technically use plastic ones anymore so these are expensive) - https://www.screwfix.com/p/d-line-red-round-safe-d-stag-cable-clips-6-8mm-100-pack/452ku

*** Above is just what I would use , Remember I am not doing the job and all electricians are different and use stuff they are used to using. Also check to make sure your not getting ripped off :) ***

How many machines will you have in there ?

Dave.

Lol , No cabs yet, So its just a posh shed ! Save your self a few quid and get a good extension cable  lol. (I am kidding obviously so dont get one)

Either way what I suggested should be overkill at best so future proofed, Hope its helped,

Dave.

Don't forget to de-rate the cable if you bury it...

Ive got a 32A RCBO in my consumer unit for the shed power.

I ran 6mm swa to the shed as 10m of the run is underground.

In the shed I have a 4-way CCU with lights & sockets on their own rcbo's.

As I've had mice in the shed before all wiring is in earthed metal conduit with metal boxes/faceplates.
