Originally posted on another Arcade collectors forum. Amazing what you can stumble across.

Ok, now the weekend is finally over and we have rescued what we could, its post time.

It all started from a couple of cabs in Wishaw that had been posted on ebay.

http://www.jammaplus.co.uk/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=36282&KW=firefox&PN=1&title=firefox-midi-goliath-pole-position .

The Bouncer expressed an interest in going through to see them, so I said I would tag along for a nosey. Unfortunately he never made it and in the end I went along with John Bud, on the strength that there were a couple of PCBs to be had. We met up with the seller to go and have a look at the merch.

Cue one old workshop / barn area with in the region of 20 cabs, 8 old bandits and a lot of associated arcade items (CPO's, sticks, buttons, Bezels, tubes and boards. Deal was done and we had until the end of the weekend to clear the lot out. The sickening thing was that there were about 15 tubes of various sizes necked due to someone stealing the deflection coils for scrap.

All in, I think the haul amounted to some 20 odd Electrocoin cabs and 3 boots (1 Goliath shooter, ~10 Goliaths, 3-4 centis, 8 midis and 2-3 boot cabs). Unfortunately I did not have time to catalogue the lot, so that will have to be done before such time as they all move off to better homes and I can have my garage back. Presently I have about 18 cabs in my garage, Bouncer has 5 and JB has a garage full of tubes.

The bouncer, JB and my mate Stu after moving some cabs out.

Highlight of the weekend for me, and old wooden Buckfast crate.

Couple of shots of my garage, with 4 goliaths and 4 midis installed.

Some of the tubes that we rescued. Nice little haul, mixture of 14" tabletops, 19 & 20" tubes & chassis.

BarnCabs054.jpg

And finally some shots of my garage after loading the last of the cabs in. The place is literally full to bursting with boxes on top of cabs, and no space left at all.

I saw this on J+ and thought "woah awesome raid!"

Glad you posted the pix for people to enjoy here. I think the highlight for me out of the entire raid (although I can appreciate all the cabs being saved and people getting JAMMA cabs etc) are the pcbs and manuals _and_ that absolutely fricken' beautiful Irish Firefox upright.

On a side note that bootleg Pole Position cab (can't make out the name on the marquee?) appears to have a real board in it - weird. What's the marquee say?

Cracking score!!!!

T'was a "Pole Position 2" cab - boot or proper I dunno, but with some acid damage on the board. Last I heard the guy still had PP1, PP2, ROTJ, Tron and a Defender. I think we tried to power it up, but nothing from it. The FF upright has to be one of the heaviest, most awkward cabs I have ever tried to move.

I heard he has others - FF is easy to move just sack from the back and pull the cab towards you with your hand over the marquee (got to be tall though).

It was a very long weekend, I have pictures of the stuck van getting towed out. The seller had more stuff stashed, but wanted 400 more from me than we agreed, he was told to ram it up has ass. As Dave said, its a once in a lifetime score. I snaffled an old flick a ball thingy and a dolly parton pinball playfield. By the Sunday evening, I was knackered, and couldn't move in my garage due to it being full of monitors. When I get my laptop fixed I will try to post my pictures. These include the wee boy, possibly 13 years of age, behind the wheel of the lwb van. And the shots of the snapped towing rope.

the wee electrocoin driver today after a few hours work;

dsc01958p.jpg

the monitor was dead so swapped it with a spare, the bootleg hangon PCB works but is a bit glitchy. its a nice small cab (56cm wide) but still packs a 19" screen. the handlebars are actually slightly wider than the cab.

Oll, the Marquee says Atari Kit and it's by something like Karateco, the name wasn't easy to read, but had the same style letters as that name has, with the lines to make the letters up, if you get what I mean
