Hi,

I was just going through my (son's) collection of consoles and was looking at selling on the duplicates, I don't know why/how that happened does anyone else have doubles of consoles?

Anyway so I was looking at the values and was surprised at the change in prices for consoles, especially PS1 and PS2. Is there any specific reasons for this, just out of interest, as it doesn't seem worth selling them on.
Thanks

Yeah I have multiples. It's the way things go.. you have the first you got near to release, then get another for some feature or other, then a friend says 'hey you're into games, can you fix this up?' and you end up doing so but never move it on etc..

With consoles there's a definite 'wave' effect. They dip down to junk prices for the generation before current, and then slowly rise over the next decades. Then only modified versions are worth anything, before it flips over and collectors only want vanilla unmodified stuff.
Certain oddball games will spiral stupidly in price, and it has nothing to do with quality really.

Enjoy the rollercoaster basically.

Yeah, my son is after a Snes but they just keep going up in price!

I presume as well that the amount produced would affect the price, especially considering how many PS1 & PS2s were sold.

I wonder what's the next best console to invest in....

Coops...

Super famicom is generally cheaper...maybe that and an everdrive...

If money is tight...get the console, and, stuff like super Mario collection (all stars) cart only, usually sub £5.

Loads of Japanese stuff that is sub £10 and fully playable...

Then if your lad is in to it...get an everdrive. ...Dataeastfan2018-09-04 18:44:57

I gave away my son's Atari Jaguar some years ago, along with several games, all boxed, and a working unit for spares. Have you seen the price of them now????

Oh boy do I miss late night Wolfenstein 3D on my old CRT
