Not an Operator raid as such, but I made a good friend in Germany that collected games back in the early 2000's and this was the last lot of stuff I bought from him before he got out of the scene.

I thought I had lost the pix! Really glad I found them. Enjoy.

The big red metal cab never made it, something happened and it went elsewhere. It was a 70's Nintendo game - stupidly rare - no idea what happened to it or if it is still around.

Pretty sure:

ColinD now owns that Tron
The Sea Wolf went to Alan (cyclo/urban_paranoia)
Bruno/Darth Nuno has the SW cockpit.

That's all I can remember, the cocktails all went, the rest I still have.

At first I thought you meant the old telephone box on the left there

Shame it went missing though, I don't think I've ever seen anything like that before.

How do you deal with an incredibly rare, enormous red Nintendo cabinet simply "going missing"? I'd probably go on a rampage of terror until I found it!

Darn right.

This is why I implant GPS trackers in equipment, nice to know where things are. You get about a week out of the battery to find the person/stuff.

Awesome pics though. Always great when you can account for things moving on after as well.

Yes, I recognize my cockpit, althrough it's the damaged side I 'hide' against the wall.

Still great to know history of our cabinets!

The Nintendo - what!

What was it, an EM game? I've never seen anything like it.

Think, Oll - THINK! - What was it?

giantkeeling was right: http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=7050

It was never loaded to be shipped to me. Looking at it now I would absolutely LOVE something like this, but at the time a friend of his was interested in it, so I said they could take it. I presume it is still in Germany somewhere.

I've never seen another, wouldn't be surprised if it was the only one left in existence.

When I started in this hobby I saw some restoration work from I think a German guy on a Battle Shark.

It's an awesome game for it's mechanics, uses 16mm film. You see a "Battleship" (in reality it is a RC controlled model LOL !) on the sea and you try to shoot it with a huge gun with a huge fire button.

I played it a lot when I was young (really young....f-ing ages ago it seems....) I remember that the one(s ?) I played were either not very accurate or I simply sucked as a kid but hitting the ship was hard. Once you hit it, the movie is quickly switched to another scene where you see the "ship" explode (that's why they used a model ;)).

We have some very rare footage of the game in action....but you'll have to come to Eurocade 2013@the Retro Game Experience to see it :D

Found a thread about it....well not sure if it is the very same machine, but it's a Battle Shark, and it's in Germany.

http://www.arcadeinfo.de/showthread.php?10818-Seltener-Nintendoautomat-aus-den-70er-Jahren!&highlight=battle+shark

It was offered on ebay.

A user called "Volley02" bought it and he posted pics and info but no idea what happened with it in the end.

The explosion sound was recreated by a rotating disc with a magnetic edge (like a cassette player) but this disc is of course "sturdier" than tape. It's also very short and endless, so a perfect set-up for just one sound :)

The thread further says the film was split into two halves: One half contained the movie that the player saw. The other half was all black except for a white dot which represented the target for the game mechanics. I assume with a light detector and a smart mechanical way to know where the player is aiming the gun it registered the hits.

I love it, would be brilliant to play it again....

The Battle Shark stands next to the Sky Hawk. I will now (after the project pinball museum had to be currently carried to his grave now unfortunately) build a small private game room with my instruments on the former farm of my brother. One can write the (the) also play back ...
