help with a vinyl side art fail

Hello all,

I got the VR from Phil's Blackburn bonanza and have -slowly- been tarting it up. I managed to get some NOS artwork and have had, well, a bit of a vinyl application fail.

In my defence, the top half of the art work went on fine, but the bottom half had been creased up in storage a bit and the adhesive wasn't great. The vinyl is also quite brittle which is understandable given it's age. Anyway, it has more bubbles than a bath full of matey.

What to do? It is peelable and I can take it slightly off and re-adjust it - the adhesive is pretty weak, but the bubbles come back when pressed out.

Does anyone have any tips?

Now, dont take my word for this but maybe some gentle heat might cure it, a hairdryer to start with, it will help soften the creases, it would also help make the adhesive softer if you wanted to peel and reapply (and add a third party glue), this used to work great on the PS2 and 360 to remove warranty stickers so Sony/MS etc couldn't tell you had been inside, not that anyone would need to!

I was thinking along those lines. I think it will need some adhesive, but you're right a hair dryer might help make it more pliable. I'll give that a go when I get time.

If its too brittle to warm and peel back up and put back down about the only thing you could do is piece the vinyl where there are bubbles (with a surgical scalpel).
You do this kind of thing in the sign trade all the time, using a squeegee wrapped in felt to force the air out of the hole and rub the vinyl down.
It's never going to be 100% but hopefully this will help! Oh and take your time!
