I'm trying to put the System 1 cab back together, it's a bit of a mess of wiring. The AR3 is long gone and the transformer has been messed about with. I'll be running it off a switcher.

I want to get the pcb running on the bench first. I've got an Audio 2 pcb (not an AR2) for the sound.

Firstly with the switcher I've got this pinout for the power on the board.

1 RTN

2 + Sense

3 +5v

4 +10.3v reset

5 - Sense

6 -15v

7 N/C

8 RTN

9 +15v

10 +5v

11 +5v

12 RTN

I believe I can put +12v on pin 4, -12v on pin 6, +12v on pin 9. Is this correct?

RTN goes to ground? And what about sense?

Thanks, that clarifies a few things there. Let's hook it up and see what happens....hopefully it actually works!

Hope so. Just been fixing up all the cut power wiring, and going to make up a new loom part with a new connector so I don't have to alter any of the connectors and can go straight to the switcher.

Glad I put some time in to doing this properly, will make it much easier to transplant all to the cab. Can confirm it's happy running with the voltages above.

First test wasn't great, lots of blue blocks and then a variety of errors shown, although these were very helpful in fault finding.

Happy to say after some time pulling socketed chips and cleaning legs that it's running nicely. Been waiting 3 years to get this working (along with hoarding some carts so have the 4 best games on the hardware), so now can crack on with the cab restoration and get playing!

Great stuff!

I think the other Marble Madness board works to a certain extent, but I think it's a conversion so might simply need some roms re-burning or swapping about.
