Ok this will be a slow burner due to lack of time and that this is my first restoration of this kind.

The Hot Rod came from the recent Wales Barn Raid and like every other cab from the barn was covered in dirt, but looks to be a nice solid cab with little damage. (apart from the rust)

The lovely steering wheels with all that human sweaty mould - nice!!!!

So after a quick look over the outside everything seemed to be sound and solid, which to be honest is a miracle for all the cabs that came from the Barn, even the moths had had enough.

So I now wanted to have a look inside to see if everything was intact, which was the first cleaning job as the keys would not go in the locks due to the rust on them.

So I cleaned up the keys and unlocked the rear door, ok now for the stupid video and the sound of my own voice (which I hate, OMG, LOL)

(Sorry if the link don't work first time I've posted a vid)

Great to see it was all intact and all original manuals and paperwork, not so sure about the freebies though.

I have been looking on the web for info on these and the 2 Player version seems to be the rarest of them all (very little info pics etc) so to get this machine and in the condition it is I am over the moon.

Anyone got any links etc to info let me know although prob found most of them already, but don't let that stop you posting them.

So next up was to give it a quick clean and assess the real condition, the marquee is in great condition with no scuffs or scratches.

Opened up the control panel and removed those lovely clean steering wheels.

Wheels removed, you can now see the missing cpo decals, that's going to be tough to replace these, will see what pics I can get and see if anyone out there can reproduce the whole thing, any suggestions welcome.

Excellent stuff. Those wheels look the same as on Out Run?...if so not too hard, (should you ever wish) to replace them.

The sides of the cab are gonna take some thought they appear to be spray painted onto a white formica style finish on the wood. As you can see from the following pics very little damage to the sides but the paint has had it, the black flakes off as you rub your had across it. The yellow is a little more robust but even cleaning with warm soapy water the paint started to rub off, so a complete repaint going to be needed.

As you can see the black just fell off without even trying.

All cleaned and tested, 5 volts output was reading nearly 8 volts so adjusted down to 5.2 volts.

As you can see coming up a treat with just a simple clean, going to strip it down completely just thought a few quick pics of it cleaned would go down well.

Next job to give the board a quick dust off and see what happens when I apply the good old 240v to the entire machine????????

Ok this is the sort of input I need, please explain "that will be easy to vector" I assume you mean to reproduce it as vinyl ?

Would not stencil and re spray be better in keeping more with the original etc?

Or was you just talking about the Sega sticker, because I defo need that reproducing along with the cpo.

Is there a tech "learning" thread on here about this, if not would be a good one to do.

Everyone's ideas greatly received

Amazing looking cab, I reckon this was the best game rescued in the whole barn raid operation, you are a very lucky man to own it, really looking forward to seeing the end result

Great stuff, good to see all the documentation and disks were in the bottom of the cab, it looks like the elements such as dust etc have been kept out of the cab.

looking forward to seeing this one up and running. Only ever seen and played on the big 4 players beast.
