Seeing how popular the original topic was/is, in attempt to thread it rather than leave it to become an unweildy 100 page long thread, we're setting up a new section.

As with any post, this forum section would works well either naming the location, or indeed suffixing with a date maybe.... Regardless, please ONLY START a thread with a Operator visit or a loaction visit, and thus allow people to reply on that thread applicably.

Anything not considered relevant to the forum section will naturually be moved (not removed)

Have fun!

Is there a possibility of a sticky thread of those who wish to be invited to raids?
Only ... I've literally no-idea how to find 'a raid' ... and it would seem that folks don't really advertise them much on here ... I'd presume (not said with any harshness, more understanding 😅) to protect their ability to get the good stuff ... I dunno ... 🤷‍♂️ ... either way, I don't have access to things like FB (I won't even use its full name, lol) or that world spanning games forum thingy (I forget its name) due to privacy concerns ... and those are the only places other than here where I'd guess such things are organised ...

I think most raids are clandestine until after the event to avoid randoms showing up/gazumping/unwanted attention. I think most people who attend these things are well versed with how these things work and there's probably a bit of cherry-picking involved but first dibs should be called for the people who are helping out on the day tbh. The Duke raid was fascinating as was the abandoned house where the floors were literally rotting.

Well I am willing to help out with one.Based on the Cambs/Suffolk border but willing to travel. It would be most satisfying to save some cabs methinks

Likewise ... even if I am just there to help those doing good work elsewhere ... or indeed cherry picking ... I'd like to help if I can.
Equally ... I'd like to find some bargains!
So ... y'know ... feel free to send me a DM if yer going on a deep dip!
( I'm on the NW outskirts of Greater LDN but am happy to travel pretty much anywhere level or south of Derby. :)

I think ‘raids’ are really a thing of the past.
There are fewer and fewer operators. Those that go out of business sell of their cabs via eBay and forums anyway.

What’s becoming more common sadly, is that collectors are getting older and we’re losing them.
Eventually family decide to move the collections on, but those taking these collections on need to do so in a much more delicate and sympathetic way.
They need to be fair and decent in offering compensation for boards or cabs, rather than mercenary and trying to get as much as possible as cheaply as possible.

I think moving forward, the term ‘raid’ just won’t fit what’s really going on.
They’re going to be more somber occasions.

Still mutually beneficial to those moving on collections to good homes, and opportunities to own rare things, but the mood will be a bit less exciting.

I’m personally looking to bump off @Monstermug and then offer his Mrs six quid a PCB… it’ll still cost me a fortune!!
