Lost my Hyper Sports PCB for a few years and finally found it but it's not doing well.

And just made a test ROM and definitely hard to see with all the graphics issues.

So safe to say something with the graphics has an issue.

Haven't watched the video but the prom sockets used on these account for most of faults. I changed all mine years ago as it was all over the place and diagnosed them to be the issue for a member on here last year.
A standard procedure is to,whilst the game is on to apply a bit of pressure to different area's by pressing down on the chips and see if there's a change.
People will always recommend easing the proms out of the sockets and check if the legs have "blackened' if they have a couple swipes with the 'fine' side of a fingernail foam block cleans them.
Obviously these PCBs are power hungry so check the 5v at the furthest chips from the jamma connector.
Saying that I'll have a look at the video tomorrow.

Thanks I will give that a try I did pull all the chips I could and that seamed to help the audio. The IC at C5 had nasty black legs.

The black coating insulates,so it's best gone but be gentle as the legs are delicate. I changed 9 sockets and cleaned up all the legs on mine after it got unbearable to play. I'd have it working, start the game and once the vibrations started the background graphics would disappear, I'd get random blocks all over the place had the sprites lose every other line so they looked stripy and even just completely disappear.
The problem with sockets of this age is they do suffer from metal fatigue. These games were running anything up to 18 hours a day so the pins on the chips are ever so slightly expanding and contracting due to the heat and the properties of the sockets wipers get to the stage where the metal no longer clamps with the same pressure. I've had some where the socket wipers have been broken within it's housing.
Nice game btw, I liked track and field lots but always felt this had so much more, think I only got the apples once on the archery by scoring perfect 5's lol

Hmmm I tried pushing on all the sockets and didn't notice anything sadly. I love the game too. I also have Track and field PCB so my goal is to have them setup in one cabinet. But need to get this darn PCB working.

Good luck, I'm the other way round... My Hyper Sports (Hyper Olympic 84 to be precise) is fine but my Track & Field is only partially working. It runs and is playable up to the hurdles as you just can't see them lol!

Oh no that's no fun. I think mine has a small issue with not giving you an extra life. But works great. I'm going to try each ROM with romident and see if that shows anything.
