need a little help (again) from those in the know.

I am thinking of getting another cocktail cabinet, but a video of it playing shows the red characters fading to orange on one side of the screen and missing or very low on the in game characters?

I have asked the seller about this and his reply is thus:

No, the screen is good. For the video I moved the cab to make some room without switching off and this caused the picture to degauss (magnetic field and all that) - this happens with all cocktail tables (and most uprights) - switch it on in its new location and the machine has an inbuilt degaussing circuit and is fine.

is this a reasonably reply to my concerns?

unfortunately, its just a little too far to go and see if its Bull5h1t or not.

thanks in advance, R.

so moving a cabinet whalst switched on can affect the colour of the pixels displayed on the screen?

when it is switched off and on this should reset the magnetic field and thus the colours displayed?

'scuse my ignorance here, somewhat of a noob, but enjoying the wealth of information others are prepaired to share.

Unfixable? What's that word mean?

YES, the earths magnetic force influences a crt more than you would think!

YES, but you will have to leave it off for a good hour or more before the degauss circuit will work again as it generates heat and doesn't reset until its cold again. If it is really badly magnetised then this will not do it! it will still stay magnetized. in that case your need a old school type degaussing wand, but that is last resort, i suspect just turning it off / on after a good delay should do it in your case
