Was this one of the ‘bargains’ you picked up last week? That’s the problem with anyone selling anything cheap anymore on the forum, most reappears at an escalated price elsewhere, personally I don’t believe any broken board is worth £450 but maybe someone does (probably the same person who would pay 1k for the spinners to go with it)

There is a guy who started a thread a couple days ago in here, selling some arcade machines, and left the price off of them & just said to message him for prices, people like you are exactly why he has to do this. Else once he has sold it there will be a thread opened like this complaining about how much he has got for things.

We are talking about games that are near impossible to get hold of, see anyone else selling a Forgotten Worlds pcb? When you get one will see how much you sell it for I suppose

As far as I see that thread is being updated with prices as items are being sold.. this is done in the interest of transparency and I don’t see any problems with that, people can see what items sold for and make there own minds up.. I also don’t see anyone on that sales thread complaining about any prices of items sold whereas this thread was specifically started to discuss current prices

How about having an official UKVAC price guide then have a locked down area for actual collectors with the following rules:

You can't sell above the guide price

You can't sell the boards on anywhere other than the collectors area of the forum

All boards go on a register

Anyone found to be breaking rules gets a life ban

Maybe it could be a wider joint project with other forums, maybe even a site where you have to register with a credit card to prove your identity to avoid people abusing the system with multiple accounts.

Just an idea, doesn't really effect me as I'll never be a collector. There's always places like arcade club to play the original games if you really want to.

[sub][/sub][sup][/sup]

For the record if I had a valuable board I would sell to the highest bidder anywhere.

The bucky o hare sales thread you literally posted: "Hobby is gone compeletly nuts"

Every day on here I see loads of posts complaining about prices constantly

if I sell anything else on here I'm just going to put message me for prices to save all this "that went for too much" crap

This. £450 for a broken and incomplete board. Previously harvested.

Anyway good luck to him and potential buyer

If you left some of the people posting in this thread in charge of it
the price list would read something like: "R-Type pcb - £4.50 maximum"
"Cadillacs and Dinosaurs pcb -£6.49 maximum" it would be a laugh to read
it if nothing else.

I don’t think you get the whole nature of the forum tbh, afaik it’s suppose to be for hobbyists who enjoy playing/repairing/restoring old arcade boards and machines, the sales section is only a small part of forum yet there are some who have posted literally nothing in any other section of the site and are only here to turn a profit, Its not difficult to see who they are, they never use the valuation section, make up prices or take the highest value they find on eBay.. I personally think these kind of people should stick to eBay or other avenues and don’t think they contribute anything positive to the forum. That’s your choice of course to keep your prices private as I don’t believe there’s a rule against it but it’s not really in keeping with the spirit of the forum, if someone lists a street fighter ii boot for £200 should we just let someone new trying to get into the hobby get shafted?

I posted a thread the other day and it quickly decended into a thread complaining about prices, every time i log in here, half sometimes half the posts are complaining about prices, THIS is why I'm responding to this, I keep hearing its a community and loads of other stuff goes on blah blah but I am not seeing it. Simialry I don't think some people in here understand how ebay works, no one is buying £200 street fighter bootlegs on ebay, they are buy it now prices that will never sell, I've also talked to a couple people in this thread via messages, the ones that constantly complain about prices, then when I wanted to buy something from them they qouted ebay prices back at me, so all this "we hate the prices stuff is a load of bs, its ok though when you are selling something to quote ebay again though, you are just sneakier about it and don't post it in the for sales section

Did you not literally post on another thread that £500 for splatterhouse was crazy money? Can’t have it both ways, I’ve been watching a few of that guys eBay listings for years and not much changes tbh, maybe the odd sale but his prices are way off even what others are paying, Pretty sure he had a splatterhouse listed for a lot more than 500 a while back too ..

Yeah I've seen that fella's stuff on eBay for years, always the same picture setup with the monitor off to the left etc. Crazy prices, but he does offer some kind of guarantee on the boards, if that means anything.

The other notorious guy on eBay is that japanese seller, though I had a quick look and maybe he's called it a day, at last. Apparently, he would advertise stuff he doesn't own for big prices, then, if someone "buys" it, he THEN goes out to find the game, with more than enough money to spare. Gas!

Anyway, it's a funny little hobby :)
