I was fortunate enough to bag this cab for not much money a few weeks ago on ebay, apologies to any bid rivals here.

It was in a bit of a state but nothing that some restoration and cleaning could not help with.

Best of all it was fully working the sound issue was as hard as turning the volume up.

The restoration is now done but here is a brief record of it in any case.

vinegar soaked microfibre clothes were great at shifting dirt all over and inside the machine, so easy and quick, hopefully vinegar does not cause any damage [?] it certainly seems to have survived fine

painting the metalwork with fine artist brush using high temperature exhaust paint, seems to work OK straight onto rust in this case!

the Hycoat ripple paint worked well on the coin surrounds not so well on the coin doors, it was a bit patchy and unpredictable

Now its done it is not perfect, I forgot to photo the flawed in places rippled side art, but still looks a lot better now I think....

The rubber bumper covering on the bottom base surround had to come off as it was ripped and also revealed damp affected mdf, I had to seal and damp proof it...

cheers!

a few final pictures of it working and the CP

again it is not mint in an ideal worked it would have a new CP overlay and side art but I am for the moment "working with it" lol

Its a mini miracle this thing worked with no faults [I think I can adjust the monitor width], it has to have been stored in a damp environment, papers I found were mouldy and all the metal work was rusted under the paint, even plated metalwork was rusty!!

cheers guys

I am in finish mode now, just putting castors on Virtua Fighter 2 tomorrow so I don't bust my back and finish restoring my The Invaders CP this coming week and I have a complete garage [with a final 1 or 2 gaps that could be filled at some point].

This hobby is time sapping but worth it!
