Fact is there’s never been a better time to pick up cheap cabs working or not. Most of not all can be repaired and whatever they have may work now, put it in a van, unload and it won’t work when you get it home, or works for 5 mins then blows up.
That’s the nature of the raid game, grab it and worry about it later. Provided you buy cheap as you can you’ll always win.
The op will want it all gone. If you don’t grab it a company will, there’s some great stuff there, if I had the time I’d hire a van get on the ferry and help you out.

This stuff is getting rarer all the time, it would be a real shame to see anything scrapped. Most arcade gear is repairable and will need repairs at some point anyway. In fact that's all part of the fun.

If you have the space, i say take it all. Like said before, even if stuff 'works' now, you'll be looking for monitors, pcb's spares, whatever once it breaks down after an hour or even during transport.
The investment in storage should pay itself back once you sell each item individually as i assume you have planned, and should really do. Even spares/dead items are worth money. But i'm a hoarder, and it's killing me at this time as i am packing up the basement for moving house

I have no doubt that it will end up in a bin/left for another 20 years if I don't take it.
As for getting help, its practically just me, so trying to arrange help while at the same time trying to arrange pickup times etc is proving a mighty pain. For instance, I was going to move the second lot last week, had a friend take time of work and everything....nothing happened because the operator was busy after all. This is where the frustration is really setting in...

Seriously?!?! I've never heard of an op doing that! It's usually take it all NOW or go away and I'll find someone else who will (or burn it). I would not be surprised if you turned up next time and it's all gone, here's your money back someone else came in and took it all no questions asked. If it was in the UK someone would have gazumped you long ago. That probably says more about the state of collecting/retro dealing over here I guess...

The thing is though, once/if I make this move to grab everything, the clock starts counting on cost. I have it in mind that if I take it all, I will need rid of it within 2 months. If things were moving smoothly it wouldn't be too bad, but..!
I think Halloween is my cut-off point in terms of patience, its either all going to happen, or nothing.

Very tempted to just take it all right now, but that fear of being stuck with a load of broken stuff, while paying for storage, and dealing with shipping etc....off-putting.

What you need to realise is that collectors will pay good money for genuinely untested cabs, especially hugely sought after ones like the OutRun Deluxe. I don't think there's anything at all in that lot you wouldn't get at least £75-100 and that's just the plain jamma cabs. Other rarer stuff goes up and up. If you get it and it does actually work it's a real bonus, if it doesn't that's the other fun of fixing it up.

Some of the cabs will actually be worth more if you just get them from the operator and move them to storage awaiting their new owners. I don't think there's anyone here that doesn't love that first try of a cab that's sat untouched for 25+ years.
Rent a bit of short term storage, get a couple of mates and a hire a luton van with a tail lift and grab the lot in a day. There's nothing there you won't be able to shift, and I'm sure there are a couple of guys on here already planning out a potential trip to Ireland!

It's obviously up to you but I think that would definitely be the way to go. From what I remember of the pics most of the cabs were pretty sought after and you'll get a pretty penny for them working or not.
Oh and you should definitely get the upright Super Hang-on. It's only small

Easily the biggest thing I'd take is the outrun, any advice on lifting it would be appreciated, its a bit of a monster weight-wise. Would 3 people be able to manage it? The van available doesn't have a tail-lift....so that would make it more "interesting"mysticmonk2018-10-12 13:52:20

I have used Dixon line a couple of time for arcade machine moving from Ireland to London. Reasonably priced and good guys that are careful.
As for the outrun deluxe.... I have one and you certainly won't physically pick it up with 3 people. It's just shy of 400kg, you would need at least 6 people in my opinion. If it has the castor wheels on it, that are not broken(!), It's relatively easy to move. I used a pallet truck (pump truck) to initially move mine and to lift it up to replace the castor wheels. As long as you look at where the sub frame lies in comparison to the pallet truck, it's certainly the easiest way I worked out. If you need to lift it to any height, you will need a fork lift.

Also to add to that, it too wide (1.2m) to fit on a Luton tail lift. The smallest truck that I could find that had a large enough tail lift for the cab to sit on safely and easily was 12 tonne. Dixon line moved mine from Belfast to London. handbakedarcade2018-10-12 14:10:14
