Was a genuine offer of help here i dont know what cabs you have found as i never seen the pictures or read the thread properly hence not knowing you were in ireland out run has been mentioned which i dont like and ive already had a super hang on
And have no ròom for any cabs anyway

But i get what backflipper is saying
People can be sneaky when it comes to stuff like this
As we speak there will be people / buisnesses trying to find out
Where these cabs are it only takes someone to find out and wave more cash at the op and they will be gone forever
Get them keep them in your back garden if you have to but you need to move now

I've offered my help

I'd happily rent a luton and get over there sharpish to help get this done.

I raid should be just that, rock up with sh*t loads of vans on one day, smash and grab anything that's not tied down and worry about what to do with it all later.

Luton vans are generally what's needed, a taillift can make all the difference when it comes to saving your back from pain! Only problem is the payload on a Luton is usually lower than that of a standard van due to the weight of the taillift itself. I have a standard T280 mwb med roof Transit van (just under a tonne payload limit), in which the payload is about the same in as a standard Luton but a T350 van would give 700kg more leeway. 7.5 tonners are what's best if you have it on your license. If I could drive a 7.5 tonner (just missed out by a few months when I took my test) then past raids i've been on (which were really good even taking a Luton) would've looked different again!

Micro update, they've let me have the run of the place with testing, currently filthy! I'll say this, it's not looking great so far, I'm definitely not going to be taking 90% of this stuff. Outrun is the biggest score of the lot s op. I. Can say it's not work lk t properly, screen is lovely and sharp/clearr, bur only getting lines across screen

Very disappointed so far

You can't seriously have been expecting much of this stuff to work? So as someone said earlier what happens when you do take a few workers home and they break < 7 days later :)

I'd grab all of it, as said above, broken stuff is worth taking as well. You could have pcb's there with chips on needed to fix others, cabs with usable parts (even if the cab structure itself isn't great) to enable others to be fixed, all manner of stuff. I wouldn't leave any of it if they want it all gone! Broken monitors can be fixed 95% of the time, etc. etc. etc.

I might have missed something, but what's the deal with testing stuff - are you limited on space? Do you have to convince the owner things are knackered to get them cheap?

Yep, it's storage issues I'm afraid. As it stands my house is just about full, so next stop is renting storage and I'm just trying to weight it all up. Don't worry, this stuff won't go to waste either way. One more fuse to test then I'm I calling it a day. Will update later :)

Your testing keys and fuses ?!!
Your kidding us right ?
If you’ve paid for the stuff ,why are you testing it now ?

Nah, im not that bad that im testing keys just for the sake of keys! I was obviously trying to get inside the machines to see what games inside and have a tinker. Money was put down on everything weeks ago, its kind of a reverse deal, as in I'll get my money back depending on what I leave. I know, weird, but its actually worked out really well.

As for why I was testing, well I answered that above. I'll elaborate everything in a minute. For curiosity sake here is a picture of the outrun, unfortunately not working :/ But good signs of life :) Edit: the few pictures below look a bit tatty, but 90% of it is due to dust

Well heres how it went today; They had originally tested a few things for me on their own so those are the ones already collected. As for the rest, as mentioned before, nobody was letting me test anything else on my own and they weren't bothered doing any more (hence time dragging on), so I was really surprised today when they just let me loose. Spent a good 4 hours tinkering around, very cool :)

Grabbed a few pcbs, will get around to testing them later. Also discovered that in part of the warehouse theres a goddamn leak, directly over one of the generic cabinets...so that's toast, unfortunately :(

Despite best efforts, I just couldn't get inside a lot of the generic cabinets, the keys thing was driving me nuts. And it goes without saying, its a jumbled mess so moving everything around on my own wasn't the best. Still fun though, in a filthy way!

The upright super hang on is working, but the screen is flickering and kinda yellowish (im guessing its mostly down to the filth of the inside (and outside!) screen.

Lots of things I wasn't getting any juice at all, so I started swapping fuses around (discovering that some didn't have any at all!) Operator mentioned that they just grab fuses willy nilly from "the museum", so he wasn't surprised.

Virtua racing doesn't have the seat included unfortunately, and the back door wasn't there (probably somewhere else). Couldn't squeeze in to test that at all, likewise with the super hang on sit-down.

Anyway, it was a good way to spend a Saturday!

So heres the thing, I know there are probably a lot of people screaming internally at me for the way this has played out so far. Just a steep learning curve for me, I'm afraid! But...I will be collecting the last few bits and bobs next week that I want, then my house is full to the brim (I basically don't have a kitchen as it is). So today was a weight of my mind because....

I'm not taking the vast majority of the rest. That means I don't have to contemplate or plan storage anymore, get people to help with lifting around etc, timing everything...I'm done with it. So, once I get my last few things, I am going to pass the rest off to someone else for responsibility. How exactly that will happen, I don't know yet, but I'm not going to worry about it until I'm 100% done. Please, before you send me 3 thousand pm's, don't. It will all play out in due course :p

Great stuff with the outrun !!
Sounds like a dream day for most arcaders and you’ve found a one off ,with an op willing to put in so much time on stuff that’s lay for decades !

Don't blame you for not taking too much on, it all takes time and effort.

That said a lot of storage unit companies do buy one one month get another half price or even free.
So if you just need somewhere to sort thru your treasure it might be useful and they tend to be setup for unloading bulky items easily.

Oh its been great so far (minus the initial headache of trying to store everything, I've learned a lot though). I certainly wont be taking the outrun anyway, so I'm sure somebodys day is going to made when its all done and dusted. And at the average price I've paid so far....peoples heads would fall off

The operators have been sterling about everything so far, great guys to deal with (besides the pick-up timing!) I like how they refer to it as the museum, this is quite literally a bunch of stuff that was packed away and left as is...decades ago. Very happy with what I have, but I'll keep schtum until the last couple cabinets are collected.

As for it being a one-off...well, I have a few other pies cooking, this wont be the last
