As I said to Andy on the phone last night, I have no idea what is and isn't real any more.
To confirm, I have come away from this with nothing.
Thankfully I don't appear to have fallen out with anyone either. I've been straight up with everyone from the outset - I was there for the Outrun DLX and waived my right to anything else pretty quickly. I didn't demand anything really, I just stated what I was there for - straight up, no messing.
I was happy to help everyone else get what they were after, I was focused on the red lump with the non-working pcb inside. The one next to Donald Duck.
A lot of the information I was dealing with was circling at speed between the group members - and I wasn't able to be online 24/7.
I was dealing with conflicting facts from the guys involved that were all 2nd or 3rd hand.
Being at a distance and not local, and not knowing any of the guys involved in person didn't help matters.
So I'm not getting into blame games or flaming or anything similar. A mix of personalities clashing, none who knew eachother face-to-face and the fact that I wasn't close enough geographically to really make that difference all compounded the situation from my point of view.
Definitely quite a few lessons learnt..
I am genuinely gutted that the chance to get my utter hands-down grail slipped away, again....
Meanwhile chapter 6 of 'The Outrun Saga - The Game That Could Never Be Purchased' has been written. It's going to be a stonking read when it's finally complete.
It'll be packaged as a bonus insert booklet with a glossy coffee table book featuring the articles from thearcadeblogger.com.
Or will it? you decide.
I do have photos I can post so everyone can see what was allegedly up for grabs.
Of course I never got to see if for myself.... but the cabs looked genuinely pretty nice.
I'm sure they will be enjoyed by many in the long run.
