Sure it's been done before but what nice surprises have you had with newly acquired cabs?
I got a cab with TMNT in it last year (but a dodgy monitor chassis) and yesterday I finally cleaned the glass.
Nice surprise: rotatable monitor!


A couple of years back I bought this unassuming 'broken' cab from around the corner for not a lot of money.
Nice surprises: single loose wire and then working; and Hangley-Man inside!

A cyclist friend of mine once told me about an "arcade machine" he saw in a ditch while out training on his bike. It was summer-time (and years ago) so I jumped in the car to go and rescue it... Turned out to be a fruit machine (not sure if I would have bothered had I known!) anyways, I nearly gave myself a hernia dragging it out and putting it in the car. Took me a couple of days to bother to drill out the locks (through lack of interest in fruits more than anything else) and inside, £160 in change! Also, I replaced one part in the power supply and it all came on fully working bar a couple of lightbulbs.

Not sure if that's exactly what you were after, but afraid I've not really got any other stories!

I have a few stories to tell!

Once bought a twin sitdown Sega driver sight unseen but supposed to be working for £500. Took it away and when I got it home powered it up and only one side worked, doh. Phoned the seller and he said to have it for £100.

Bonus.

So the next day I went in the garage to start trouble shooting it, I was going to swap the boards over first, but I powered it up on the off chance.. And the thing worked on both sides!

I later drilled out the locks on the coin door and there was over 350 pound coins sitting in the bucket!

We've found a few dildos in cabs too - don't laugh! One in that table top in the Manchester raid, and there was another in the Wales raid!!!

Very interesting stuff! I've found only a couple of pounds in loose change in my various cabs; mainly old 10p pieces.
I do have one more lock to drill though.

£17 in coins from behind the Sega Rally twin Control panel, where people put their money on the top and they fell through lol

one of the best had to be the Op Thunderbolt cab I got for £100, I got the mini Op Wolf at same time, that wasn't working and had the front missing from the gun, so no lense

Thunderbolt had a full working Op Wolf gun inside under layers of dust, also another Thunderbolt gun very broken, not only those but original manuals and lots of paperwork faxed from Electrocoin about various stuff, loads of credit board docs and to top if off which helped me to restore this Thunderbolt mini a spare Aux outlet unit which I would of been stuck without, so that one cab helped restore the other 2 and all 3 ended up fully working. amazing luck thatBods2015-03-30 12:02:41

Thomas, the only guy that I took to the my big raid in August 2014
and has bought a lot of pinballs, also took a generic cocktail table for
50€.

When we transportet it we heared that there is something going on in the coinbox.

Once the coinbox-door we found 1200 austrian Schillings, the currency back then before the € came.
That is around 100 in €....

About the most exciting things I've found in a cab are a Phoenix PCB, a big box of unused barrel locks and keys and some NOS air hockey pucks.
