painting my defender

this is the first time i've attempted anything like this.
i bought the defender in may from chubsta.it had no front or side art and i always intended to have a go at re-doing it.

it has been getting played in my front room but i've now put it in the garage to have a go at repainting it.







stripped the cp,bezel,speaker,marquee and t-molding.

sanded the cab and filled some of the wood and sanded it back then rolled on satin black paint.













applied the stencils for the red paint then used 2 cans of cherry red spray paint.









stencils for yellow paint next.

then 2 cans of sun yellow spray paint.









put it back together,i now have a defender that looks like a defender.

very happy with how my first paintjob turned out.

That looks really nice, amazing work with the stencil! I've been painting my cab today, by 2pm tomorrow the 24 hours drying time will be up and I can do the next coat.

I've never used stencils of any kind let alone on a cab....how easy are they to apply then ?

Nice one. How smooth was your black paint? The guy from gamestencils advised me that stencilling onto rollered paint made things tricky as it's hard to get a perfectly smooth finish. Did you have any issues with the red or yellow spray paint bleeding?

the paint was quite smooth,i used a small foam roller and took my time to get as good a finish as i could.

all the edges of the red and yellow are solid,no paint bleeding.

here's the paint.

one tin of satin black rolled on with a small foam roller

2 cans of cherry red

2 cans of sun yellow

lots of light coats sprayed on,i think i did about 6 coats.

the colours are solid,not transparent at all.
