RE: [ukvac] Pinouts
Some of the answers lie within the pages of Striders (Lee Taylor's)
excellent site :-

www.arcadeflyers.com/strider/

I know the MK pinouts are DEFINITELY on there.. and I think the CPS2 ones
are too..

Re: [ukvac] Pinouts
Andy,

I can bring you CPS2 and System 11 (Soul Edge)
EXT pinouts tomorrow if that helps. You want just
what wire goes to what on the extra connector yes?

This page now reads:-

The Arcade Game Collector's Archive is no more
Well, it had to happen one day
People downloading the ENTIRE ARCHIVE have finally
forced me to take this down

Spies has been seeing pegged net bandwidth for weeks
and in looking at the logs, people have been copying
EVERYTHING here dozens of times a day
------------------------------------------------------

So, OK! Who was it?

Re: RE: [ukvac] Pinouts
Since the site is dead, is there anyone out there who has ripped the site?

Are you prepared to burn CD copies for us for an "administration" fee?

Re: [ukvac] Pinouts
Thank you,

What an excellent site you have there.... very interesting reading.... I'm hoping, when i have fixed my galaxians board, to put it in a tabletop cab i have, sell it and retire

abroad on the profits.... :-0~

Seriously though, i've come across a sticky problem already, the reset line @ pin 26 on the Z80A is up and down like a whores drawers....

It's not the Z80A, it's not the 2114's @ 3F and 3H and it's not the Rams @ F and 5F. I have a 6Mhz clock @ pin 5 of 74L368 (1E) and 3 Mhz @ pin 6 of Z80A....

Any ideas where i should take a look next???

Mark.

RE: RE: [ukvac] Pinouts
I did so about a year and a half ago so it may be a little out of date,
but you'll be needing somewhat more than a CD. It totals approximately
2.17GB without RGVAC and 2.78GB with...

I wouldn't personally have the time to do that )

RE: [ukvac] Pinouts
Check out the Galaxians troubleshooting guide, I can't remember what part it
is but it details the watchdog circuit in full. Its a right riveting read
(oh no... That's 'The Sun' my mistake)

RE: [ukvac] Pinouts
That'll probably be the watchdog kicking in, when the program is running
correctly, it resets the watchdog timer every so often - if this doesn;t
happen, then every so often (15 frames?) the watchdog will trigger and reset
the z80 (so if the program crashes, the machine reboots basically - every
copy of windows could do with this!)

to disable it, there is a solder pad near the end program rom, this grounds
out one of the lines on the counter and disables the watchdog (beware, some
bootlegs have the solder pad to +5 and not ground, which doesn;t damage
anything, but doesn;t disable the watchdog either)

what to check depends upon what happens on screen - does it start tests, or
just static garbage ?

program ram is at the end of the program roms in row 7 (not got manual here,
so approx numbers), the ones you have mentioned are the screen ram and
object ram. for the test to even start the z80, program rom and program ram
must be working a bit, and the buffers must not be locking the bus (4 x 8216
or 2 x 74245 or 2 x 80?? (something else anyway)) - if you want to see the
results of the test it helps if the video ram and circuirty works too (and
associated buffer)

If someone can provide me with a zipped copy of it, I'll gladly host it.

RE: RE: [ukvac] Pinouts
Well seeing as the manuals are still available on stormasters ftp thingy, is
it really worth the hassle? Even if the compression is 50% its still more
than two CD's worth for the lot...
