Raspberry Pi 4 is out!

Think it's same for most of us, so many projects and things you want to do but don't find the time for it or even to play games on them
Would like to use some for MP3 player on Hi-Fi system so bought a few bits for that but still sat there as it arrived

I love pi !
I have a pi3 which triple boots.
It runs Kodi (with a usb hub to a hard drive for movies/music, a Linux desktop and retropie. That takes up like 128gb card !! I had a mare getting power supply and switch so that kodi did not show the lightening bolt. Even a hub and official supply was not giving enough power for a simple 2tb drive.
I then have one running just vertical games in a 14" cab at 15K. Got that of 2human a while ago
Maybe the rpi4 would be good in my supreme video cab ??
A friend of mine whose a developer has cleverly used a pi and special setups which gets installed when people build stuff like train lines. It can take photos and put upto the web to show progress and tresppases etc, Uses battery and mobile phone sims. If there was not such a cutthroat market in who gets those contracts he would of been rich by now !

If you are using a 15khz solution i strongly suggest investing in a pi4. Mohoosive things are happening in the pi community with regards to 15khz gaming. the pixel clock restrictions have been lifted on the pi4, so you can now get 1:1 video output. the pol rate to the GPIO has also been increased, so the response rate via GPIO is quicker. We are looking as an amazing MAME setup for people using old CRTs. it could rival Groovy MAME!!!

oh it does that, and then some!!! no compromise with the pixel clock now. you can create 1:1 video signals!!!!

Guys, please can I ask this here, are these any good for arcade emulation...
It's been a while since I used arcade emulation...and I need some kind of fix until I sort stuff out..
Now I've got this far...I'll do some googling, guess it won't hurt to post here though...

I just hope the Compute Module version arrives soon (or is pinout compatible)

Just depends what type games your running I think, I've got a couple for the Console stuff and there great, won't run everything but there older 2 and 3 but with these getting better all the time they will run more stuff
Not used them for any Arcade stuff yet but will be interesting to see what games these could run ok
What's the newest games these will run perfect guys?

It is being worked on. The refresh rate on the GPIO has been more than doubled, and added to the increase in clock speed, it should make it way more responsive. Also more efficient now we don’t have to make do with super horizontal resolutions with integer scaling. We can now create 1:1 resolutions which will reduce overheads. The 4 just keeps giving at the moment. Exciting times for anyone using them in their cabinets

Videos are starting to appear on YouTube giving examples of what you can expect with the extra grunt from the pi4, but nothing has been optimised as of yet. I know the latest open GL implementation has been shown to reduce input lag by 1 frame on its own in raw tests. We just need software to catch up and take advantage. It will happen soon.
