Removing protective film from old nos marquee.

Any easy way to remove the protective film from a 27ish year old nos marquee, comes off easy enough with my thumbnail but it may take years, any quick fix or is it just slow, painful and enjoyable at the same time?thechop2015-02-13 18:05:09

The film only comes off in small bits? Could try gently heating the film with a hair dryer? Should make the film more elastic.

Note: I've never actually tried this, so, at your own risk.

Try heating it gently with a hairdryer. It will soften the adhesive and also make the plastic less brittle, so it pulls off a lot easier without breaking into tiny bits.

Cheers chaps, someone else also mentioned the hairdryer elsewhere, I'll give it a whirl but it's stuck like sh*t to a blanket

May be using the thumbnail technique after all, think it'll be worth the pain though haha.

I would also recommend the trying 'hairdryer' technique in addition to pulling the film 'backwards' over itself slowly (as opposed to 'up' from the marquee).

Few more hours and the fronts off, used the edge of a cd to get the film off was stuck big time and the heat just made it smear so the long road it was but the sight of the shiny underside made it worth the pain, just the top and back to do now
