Would love to but I really need to think about Xmas soon. Plus I'm organising a get together of my own between Xmas and New Year and I can't do everything.

To be fair, we have had the tickets booked for this panto for a few weeks now, the kids have never been before and they were bought for us all to go as a gift, so it would be rather unfair of me to say I'm not going now, I've had a better offer.

Also met some really great people and bumped into a few I have met before.

Overall excellent place, excellent people. Highly reccomend going to one of these meets.

Huge thanks to James for yesterday, a great time was had by all, as always!

Fuzzy Jnr and myself managed to get in a good 9 hours of classic arcade gaming.

Great to meet a few new faces and some familiar ones.

Some highlights of the day:

Poor Russ J had obviously never seen or played an arcade machine before because the poor chap didn't manage to get a decent score on anything. 3 Million-odd on Star Wars, 1.3 million on Defender (before passing it over to me where I promptly lost all his remaining smart bombs in about a minute) and a score on Robotron which, taking into account the herculean effort needed to wrestle with the joysticks, Geoff Capes would have been proud of.

The 'Frog-off' on Frogger between cmonkey and myself, which ended with only 20 points difference in the final scores!

Must also mention cmonkey's 'barbershop solo' renditions of the Frogger music during gameplay (due to the audio being either turned too low or not working). It was frighteningly accurate, which does make you wonder how much time he's spent practising it.

The 'European Mince Pie, Doughnut and Cola Mountain' in the kitchen.

Fave cabs of the day for me: Robotron (despite the joysticks), Defender (despite being crap at it) and Tempest (again, completely useless at it but awesome game).

I really enjoyed it yesterday. Thanks a lot to host James (secret Track N Field expert). I'm bad at recalling names but good at faces, so I'll remember you all next time and thanks to you all for a good chat! I'm not into the technical cab-building side of things, but I have a huge passion for arcade games and it was good to speak to like-minded people again. Russell - Jesus mate you clocked Defender, and dominated Juno First, Robotron, Gyruss and Star Wars! I did manage a PB on 1942 - 315K, of which I'm proud. Please don't play 1942 Russ lol!

Huge thanks as always to James for opening up his home to a bunch of good-for-nothing retrobates such as myself! The Lair remains the no.1 arcade in the country in my eyes and it's always a pleasure to visit it. Was a pleasure to see the usual suspects there, as well as a few new faces.

Highlights for me were :-

1) Watching Russ own every single game that he played! The guy is simply superhuman! I'm sure he'd still be on the same credit on Defender now, if he hadn't got bored and walked away from it after he'd wrapped the wave counter round from 99 to 00! Simply awesome skills and a pleasure to watch. Russ, you must have had a lot of 10p's in that game BITD!

2) As mentioned already by Fuzzy, the Frog-off was fun. I got complacent and lost by 20 points when I was under no pressure crossing the road. Then to cap it all off Mr. Luke Wells came along and knocked my high score off the top of the table after it had been sat there all day. My pride is now hurt and I need to spend the xmas hols practising.

3) Completing and getting the highest scores on OutRun, Super Hang-On (and beating the said Mr. Wells in the process!) and Pole Position.

4) Watching James playing Tempest and get the high score in the process. It's refreshing to see James actually getting to play his games as most of the time he usually spends being an awesome host and never seems to get much time to actually play.

So thanks once again to James for opening up the Lair so close to xmas. And thanks to Russ for driving me there and back when I wouldn't have been in a fit state to drive myself after the work xmas do the night before.

Really looking forward to the next RGP in 2014 now, where Frog-off 2 (the return of the Frog) will be my chance to avenge.....

I only took a single picture of Fuzzy in the Star Wars cockpit (when I don't take many pics it's usually because I'm having such a good time that I forget to take them).

A bit of a late post from me but I really enjoyed myself at RGP's 'mini party'

Cheers James for letting me come along to your aladdins cave of retro video game awesomeness,I were totally blown away with the amount of cabs you have and to have that many dedicated ones as well is just mind blowing...I were well and truly in my element and felt like i'd been taken back to the early to mid 80's with all the neon lighting everywhere,and to see at least 6 of my most 'wanted' games under one roof was just nothing short of amazing (Starwars cockpit,Gyruss,Defender,Robotron,Space Harrier and Juno first).....

It was great to put many faces to names,it was my first RGP party and i'm pretty sure i'll be coming to future ones,nah forget that I WILL be coming to more partys

James i salute you sir for opening your doors to such a great community to share all those superb games
