Just pulled this of a badly rusted naomi panel …
Is it /could it be re made ?
Even self adhesive…

Would be cool for custom panels : final protective layer of clear would mean I could have a print of a weaker material underneath ?
Then buy the top layer separatly ..


It looks as though adhesive was applied by brush originally.

Would be cool to have a tough clear self adhesive top layer avalible for restoration of original rusting panels.


Original Naomi panel now sanded …. Would be nice to keep it brushed steel with clear overlay for exsample

Looks like a 1mm Alan

Quick tip to removing the ls-30 snk rotary sticks top cap for joystick removal ,

You can suck it off
As long as it’s clean that is !

I have a vague feeling arcade artwork guy (Olie?) can print onto acrylic sheet so suspect he might be able to do something direct on it?

IIRC I had some Taito spinners years ago and I thought they needed an allen key but in fact they had a split pin in which I had to remove with a fine pin punch whilst the spinners were held in a vice. Shine a torch/light into the hole.and see if it is a hex grub screw or a c shaped split pin.

Do you know I did think it was a split pin after taking a photo and zooming in on it …

But I read on arcade Controll’s website after googling how to remove spinner knob , that it’s just better to disassemble. It was not to bad .. 1 ser clip and a tiny bolt .. slide 2 cogs out , Thats it really just have to be a little carefull ..
I had to re -drill the bolt holes to mate the top plate to make it fit “sega “ Naomi / Astro panel . And it’s done , Just need to get it wired into cab now!

My next biggest stumbling block is …
Ultimarcs optipac software to make the spinner a 5+v pull up active high needs configuring each time I power up my pc ?

With groovymame I don’t really want to go back into windows mode or even navigate files just to tick 2 boxes every time I want to play a spinner game - só I need to find a solution to this ?

I’m not sure if it’s even possible ?
I might just be stuck with needing to configure it every time I power up pc ,

just massively happy it works though and can’t wait to play it in a cab !

Tried cameltry and tempest last night and was great
Fine tuned the digital speed in analog controls mame options

And it’s so smooth .. and gearing is so cool they way it has so much travel with small amount of turn really brings the game playability to life 😊

For original Taito spinner & snk / data east / happ rotary Doesn’t exist
And no plans to do it .

Which is sad because I was under the impression this would be the all singing and dancing …

But support for the GRS ikari wars rotary stick is supported on mister , I haven’t picked that up yet because I wanted to focus on the original peripherals primarily because of their durability and that they are the actual controllers.

Also word on the grape vine is the grs is flimsy ?

And x&y track ball
Rotary gets made one day

For spinner yes

Not for rotary

The rotary encoders consolidate thr 12 positions into 2 … an it’s usb ..
Só you only need that to use with mame , not compatible with mister .

Not that easy to track down
But pcb way /github has projects avalible .
