This is going back some, but a few of us will recall way way back in August-September 2002, P-Man got a lead on a warehouse full of old cabs in Essex... Naturally we went to investigate and we were blown away with what we found - some 80 cabs left and stored since 1983 in a barn!

Realising it was far too many machines for us to handle or afford, we decided the best solution was to attempt as ukvac auction and a web page with an email address to me accepting offers. And so, the cut off was the 27th of Sept 2002...

Ill post the article as best I can - and indeed due to everyone virtually being on dialup only links were given to pics but I'll post them now we can "hog the internet highway" :)

Regardsless - a blast from 2002.... enjoy:

How'd it end up?

Unfortunately, the op discovered a certain business in the upper midlands who had put a stupidly high bid in (it seems so as for years certain machine slanguished on their web site...)

Sadly we didnt accruse enough interest or sums, and ikndeed we ignored the other 66% of stuff at the place - half fruit machines and half JAMMAs....

Oh well... Still one hell of a find

I remember putting offers in on a few of those games when they came up. God know where i would have put the Super Bug, it looks like a pretty large cab, my folks would have loved that turning up at home! Shame they never made it into the ukvacs hands.

Smart.

Oh, and my Birthday's the 27th September, like the date of this raid. Maybe one day I'll get to raid an arcade warehouse for my Birthday, what an awesome birthday present that would be

I have 2 super bugs at the moment. They are projects currently but my plan is to restore them both together next year. It's sadly far to cold in my unit to work comfortably right now. Bazfish has first refusal on the second one but failing that it will be up for grabs.

I'm pretty sure that lot was originally from the arcade in Broadstairs. If so its the one I played to death as a nipper!

Hey,

Looking at these photos again I have to say this is a most awesome find. As cool as the Ship for sure, the Converta-Cab Astro Blaster is uber - never seen another like it.

Just noticed this thread, a shame this never came off.

Somehow though, I ended up with one of the Sega/Gremlin DK cabs anyway;

It's now a dedicated Teal Astro Blaster.

Arcade Warehouse got in there and bought the lot from under ukvac - so some were sold off on eBay hence luckily quite a few collectors still managed to snag them.
