Hi all I have a Nintendo Space fever cocktail looks like all
original stuff inside but she’s been through the pub wars lol. Mostly in good condition monitor has burn but
to be expected for a machine her age the counter shows just under 40k. I’m very new to this kind of thing but this
is a family thing with my brother very invested in the game as he used to play
it in the pub so I really want to get her up and running again but I’m learning all the way J So all advice will be
greatly received.

As in my hello to the forum she had a burn out a SN74LS160 chip
melted and god knows what else has gone. Can anyone confirm what chip melted as I’m struggling to locate
a schematic for my I/O board TSF I/O PI500803.

I think I now know
why, the transformer seems to be giving out the wrong voltages. But I’m not 100% sure I have the right
schematics I have the colour version but can’t find the earlier version for
black and white. This will be a long and slow process as I’m basing the voltage
output on the colour schematics things look very very similar so can anyone
point me in the right direction id be grateful.

So I have given her a nice clean up and watch a load of Joes
Classic video repairs (very informative) and ill keep you guys updated with a
ton of question no doubt.

Hi just seen your post in the welcome section and was going to answer there but now you have posted this here it is in a better place to get info.

There are a few threads on here that are Space Fever related I think.

Start with this one

http://www.ukvac.com/forum/topic390742.html

It also has a links to other repairs etc.

Also if you want to see about restoration Tony Temple did one and you can see it on his website

https://arcadeblogger.com/

I have one that is in complete bits, I was given the carcass free, no internals and then amazingly someone was selling the complete insides on facebook! So as soon as the Tron is finished in the coming weeks it is my next project...no idea if the boards work but they do not have a IC that has self destructed like yours!

As philmurr said I would get that IC off first and clean up the board to get a feel for trace damage and then work from their.

I think the voltages of the colour and B&W are the same ultimately you want to make sure you have the +5,-5, +12 and 24v and if they are ok I would still consider checking inside and make sue the caps look ok due to the age, I personally would probably re-cap it.

If they are not and one has gone wacky you could work back from their to see what has failed in the circuit, The schems (albeit for colour) are pretty good from what I can see.

If you need a decent picture of the boards let me know, Mine are in a box so easy to get to.

You will need a logic probe as a minimum to start to try and fault find once you have your voltages sorted.

Cheers Stickman, a good picture of the i/o board would be good i have cleaned the old chip of theres a bit of damage as you might have guessed, the backside of the board im not sure what traces have been destroyed so a piccy of the back in the area of where mine has been melted could be useful.

I know the transforma is throwing out 20- 20-20 on the three taps which i know is wrong should be 10-20-10 i believe, so trying to source a new one or one that works got know idea where to get one lol just going around in circles at the moment

Is it defo the transformer, looking at the schems (albeit for colour) it only gives two 10v outputs, one 20v output and a 110v for a socket. Transformers usually work or go short / open circuit.
