another great show guys listened to it in the gym tonight and the Paperboy gaff was a classic nearly crashed the exercise bike!

on centipede - completely great game and one of my grail cabs scooped mine as a fleabay jobbie a few years back in great condition. Added bonus that it had a millipede board with the multipede pcb kit and also another bonus that the original centipede board was thrown in as well - whey hey !

Couple of things I've noticed - centipede and millipede only store the top 3 scores to earom (multipede board fixes this) - prob to give the less skilled of us a chance at making it on there in the first place! Also the spider will swoop down and at times remove one of the mushrooms - which is a pain if you've been lovingly creating your fungi barricade. Oh and changing dips (which I did in the end!) seemed to reset the scores - which Vic found out.

Really enjoyed this podcast, was good fun, and Shauns paperboy slip was very funny...as was his diary at the Play Expo.

I did submit my scores last week, so can only think Vic has missed them, my daughter played along this time too, we both only had about half an hour on it, but she beat me! (AR) (and had been looking forward to hearing that on air) Centipede is a game I love, I used to play it loads on the PS1 Atari Greatest Hits Collection, and could get up into the 70/80,000s then using a joypad. Gameboy too was another version I used to play and get massive scores, but it compares in no way to the arcade and had plenty of ways for points racking.

Played it using a mouse and a newly installed MAME, found the mouse a bit clunky and that darn spider kept getting me.

I've decided to invest in a hard copy of Sir Ron's book, I think I have a couple of similar books in my collection from that era for Pacman & Space Invaders.

I am defo going to carry on playing the game now I've got it set up in Mame though, and it will spur me on to get my Millipede cab running and maybe hunt down a Centipede Cabaret.

From having never played Centipede, and believing I didn't really like it, I have discovered I love this game and wouldnt mind owning one. Mouse just didn't work for me, so thank goodness Arcade Club has one.

I can actually score 180k+ using mame and keys, so maybe you could stick with the keys. Centipede is the one game I regret selling - the fact that a good game for me is 300k means a playtime of 20 mins or so per game. Perfect !

Maybe RGP will have one at Glasgow for me.

Evening Gents,

Only started listening in the last couple of weeks, but loving the podcast and a great way to fill the walk to work. Definitely got me playing more games and it's motivating me to get my first cab as well. Catching up on the old shows has kept me sane while trying to get Hyperspin setup and it's nice to have some personality in a podcast, instead of Ferris Buellers teacher, who seems to present a lot.
Loving the high score competition and will chuck up a score after a last go tonight. Gutted I've missed out on some of the previous games, but pretty sure I would have only played a game like Road Fighter for about 30 seconds without some motivation to keep going. Enjoyed figuring out a few things just by playing, like back in the day. Saying all that, I'm about done with this game. Getting to the point where missing a fuel car or crashing on the first two levels tests the tensile strength and flexibility of my joystick.

Nice to meet Shaun and Dave when I was at Arcade Club last weekend with Neil1637, but can never play Galaxians again after a one handed effort scored about ten times my best.

Really enjoyed this podcast with loads of news and pick ups and stuff you've been up to.

Listening on my noise cancelling Bose headphones it was very disconcerting having Shaun kissing my ear as I sat on the train though when he did the Play diary!

Vic's swimming pool cabs story reminded me that our local pool had an upright Space Invaders and a cocktail Scramble in the early 80s... much more fun than swimming!

I properly laughed out loud on the train when Shaun gave away the Paperboy answer in the music quiz... properly funny!
