There's Astro City in Southend on Sea:
http://astrocityarcade.co.uk/
Astro is a great place, even though it's mostly 60 in 1's and not original hardware, it covers just about all the 80's games I could think of, which is my golden era. Unfortunately they now don't open to the public, except for Thursday and Friday evening between 7-11pm. £5 cover charge and all machines are on free play so it's good value but I can't really make it there after work on a week night, so that's a bummer.

Wish arcade club was nearer!

Fishguard Harbour Wales

This summer I did a week's exploring of southern Ireland, heading over on the midnight ferry from Fishguard. So after a long bleary-eyed drive after a full working day, I fancied chilling out while I waited for the ferry boarding to start. After getting a fresh coffee, I found this sign!

Ahaa... getting closer, looking promising..

And I turned the corner to....

Meh! So don't go to Fishguard if you wanna play the latest arcade games!
To be honest the machines on the ferry weren't in great nick either. They were almost all out of action or screen-burn-central.

Kent has some nice surprises, Royal Leisure Centre in Deal has 4 Electrocoin duets running Mortal Kombat, SF 2 (Champion + Hyper editions), and Track & Field. Pier Amusements also has an OutRun 2 twin.Tedward2018-10-22 17:14:37

Just got back from holiday in California and there's a nice arcade on Santa Monica pier. They have Pacman, 2 x Ms Pac Man, 2 x Galaga, Centipede, Galaga/Ms Pac class of 1981, Mortal Kombat 3, SF II, Super Mario Bros. Half a dozen air hockey tables and similar amount of table football. A bunch of pin tables and a few more modern games too as well as the usual arcade fare of basketball etc.

Sadly when I was in earlier this summer both the Cabs running SF2 were virtually unplayable due to worn out joysticks and non working buttons and from what I remember the same from the year previous! Why they cant take 10 mins to swap out for some working controls I don't know? Was totally buzzin' in there tough, great atmosphere!

Yeah, that's really annoying. I didn't play any of the fighters, so didn't know they had dodgy sticks. There's little point having a fighter even turned on if the sticks aren't responsive. One Galaga had a fire button which needed a bit of a hammering to work. The Pac Man had a bit of a blurry screen and the class of 81 had the image size set too large.

I had a weird bug on the Galaga with the dodgy button too. Every now and then it would display 'ready' on the screen, like it does before you start a new life. But this was mid level without losing a life. Then about 300k in, the ship wouldn't move any more but the fire button still did work. While this was happening though, I was invulnerable to bullets or enemies hitting me. As soon as a boss Galaga fired a tractor beam I became mortal again and instantly died. Very strange one. Other Galaga worked well apart from some dodgy colours.

Like you say, it wouldn't take too long to fix them but I guess they aren't too bothered so long as they get the passing quarters from the tourists.

A couple of additions -

Electric Circus in Birmingham. Mainly pinball but they also have a couple of cabs. Everything is on free play after paying admission - https://www.facebook.com/electriccircusarcade/

Up-Down in Minneapolis. A barcade with a really nice range of classic cabs and a ton of different craft beers. Superb Pizza too. All machines are on token play but the prices are very reasonable (for the food and drink too) - https://www.updownarcadebar.com/minneapolis/

Also, after the end of the week The National Video arcade in Nottingham is closing before they move to Sheffield

Ocean Beach Amusements in South Shields is a bit thin on original arcades. It's got a knackered Sega Rally twin sitdown, Outrun 2 and a load of modern games. The jewel in the crown is this one...

An original Bubble Bobble

You don't have LV which is pretty much the most active coin op player arcade in the UK =]

Some others not on the map yet:

1. Rendezvous Amusements in Folkestone. Recently added Big Buck Hunter and some brand new UK machines. Has Pac Man Ball pusher, fruities, redemption games, some drivers.

2. Some place in Soho, dunno the name but I go there some lunchtimes. Has drivers and a good few pins, as well as the DDR types

3. Hastings seafront. Arcade there with Sega Rally's, pushers etc.

They all crap compared to BITD :(

If we doing international, plenty to add for Chicago including Galloping Ghost Arcade.

Seems pointless adding now but Llandudno (North Wales) Pier arcades used to have a couple of nice games and a lovely Indy pin but even that's gone now it seems (after they foxed it up annoyingly).

Mostly gambling tosh but I think there's still a gun game or two and a modern space invaders ticket thing.
