UKVAC on IRC, let's relaunch it!

#arcade is a more popular channel but be aware that most of the people on it are in the US so don't expect much traffic until later in the afternoon 
IRC isn't great for mobile type usage unless you have a larger user base ( >50 ). Invariably you miss the person you wanted to ask a question or you aren't in the channel when someone offers something for sale so you just miss it. The best usage I found for IRC (and what we mostly used to do) was to leave an IRC client up and running on your computer all the time connected to the channel. In that way it kinda works like an old fashioned (yes even for IRC there are older fashioned things!) BBS. For example someone can ask a question and get an answer hours later when another user checks the channel timeline later on in the day (or week!).
Obviously IRC does work if you duck in and out but you're never going to get the best from it imo, especially whilst the number of users using it is so low. Might be that it's a resurrection too far, I'll try and keep my client connected and I know there are a couple of others doing the same but don't expect me to be there all the time
Maybe we can find another persistent chat technology that's easy to integrate to a Web and Mobile use case. Anyone got any ideas?
