Sad to hear problems. I am postie and things are not 100%, Tracked is now delivered by additional teams as I am one of them, the traditional signed for/2nd class is done by your regular postie. With regular post the Ofcom fines are expected, targets not being hit. New CEO is here too.
Do you think post that is not tracked is being dumped or are they just severely delayed?

I'm getting all my tracked items within a few days but still waiting on 4 parcels from 19th Aug onwards...

Cheers

Touch wood I have never had a problem with Royal Mail for years.. I always send my items 1st or 2nd class recorded. Yesterday I dropped parcels off at 5pm and posted 1st class recored, 8.30am this morning one guy confirms item received.

I haven't posted an item without recording and tracking for years, even if it's value is only a £20-30.

Just regarding getting a signature , I have had 2 that the driver has signed !!!! I had one where (My fault) I put the wrong house number down, They have the delivery guy bang on the door and frighten a little old lady to death , then chucked it at her door and signed it his self. Then they tried to tell me it was the house hold who signed it. Total BS !

With regards Signatures ... yes, during Covid we were Signing on behalf of a customer but we would verify the person and type that in, not all posties do things the same, Sometimes if large letter signed for is used (which i do for sligthly valuable items) the postman has to try and get the occupant attention but when they dont answer the temptation to post it via letterbox is there.

With regards 'recorded' delivery, some 80s thing I think that is.... lol

With regards the lost items, you have to put a claim in and hope for the best. Tracking should give you an indication where it broke down, for a postie to say that we 'dumped' a parcel as the guy above said, do you think we would get called into the office to explain a tracked item dumped? they do like succesful figures the depos. Ask customer services for the GPS and the photos. All tracked is tracked, simple as, should get a scan each day.

I stopped using Royal Mail at the start of this year and would agree with others they are fine for small items that will fit thru a letter box, but they charge too much for medium to large items parcels and non signed for can be unreliable.

Letters are also a complete rip off. The local sorting office had a melt down over Christmas and first class items arrived in February, not a good look when the stamped postage date was mid December!

Whilst my postman is brilliant, my local post office counter were pretty darn rude on a consistent basis and I noticed a pattern of them (or the computer they use ) recommending the most expensive next day service by default. That's not fair on elderly customers who don't know any better.

I now use a courier such as DX or FedEx, they collect with the labels pre-printed and delivery within 24 or 48 hours so your parcel is not floating around the system for weeks.

Parcel force had always been very good in the past, perhaps I will give them another go to see if things have improved in my area.

just listening to Sheepfarm guys, saying about DPD and guy was at home, no parcel turned up, he phoned up DPD which cost him £6 and they said it's at a DPD Depot which was a 100 mile round trip, they also said they are doing this leaving items for you to collect to fight the Climate Change Hoax, Won't be using DPD then o_O

I had the same issues last month, items arriving nearly 2 weeks late, but they did eventually turn up all at once. I too, think it's down to staff turnover, but that isn't an excuse for people who pay extra for tracked, 48 hour services.

If nothing turns up, I'd recommend contacting the eBay sellers, and for them to open lost parcel forms. A month is far too long.

I can't deliver a letter from Bournemouth to Newcastle myself for one quid or whatever it is 🤘
True, i'm just annoyed that I spent about £20 on first class stamps for Christmas cards that were posted well in advance of the cut off date and took 4 weeks to turn up. I learnt my lesson and will be posting cards in October to ensure they arrive.:)

You never know but going on reviews quite possible, gotta say many places like this have expensive numbers to call but a bit of searching and you can find free ones often, issue is though can you speak to a person these day and today friend tells me DPD delivered a parcel couple of days ago, guy put it in front of door, took a photo and gone before they had a chance to look and see it wasn't even for them, was for next door

1star DPD
