The Star Wars figure was miraculously returned to me yesterday without any attempt to deliver it to the buyer

Obviously it's a relief but a pretty weird situation. I have no faith in those guys any longer.

I basically paid to have it delivered to myself.
WTF

Back to problems. A Royal Mail collection was never picked up yesterday, and when you go to track anything, there is a message saying the RM website is down. No idea what's going on, but expect to see something in the news.. Hope you've all mostly (!) got things resolved!

Anyone else having probs this week?

Not read through the whole thread, but you can sign up on the royal mail site for alerts on routes into your depots that may be causing issues for you.

When they put this new system in our region and Oxford I think it was, there were delays over 6 weeks. We had postie's we'd known for years throwing the towel in at the front door because of the abuse they were getting off people in the area. Essentially the transition to the new system meant there was weeks or months worth of post in cages with new stuff stacking up on top, hence, huge backlogs.

I asked our regular during the worst of it whether they were having issues, it's me, I'm polite, anyone that knows me realises I'm soft 😂 The guy practically ran away like I was going to kill him.

Few weeks later before Christmas left a box of biscuit bar things out for him to take back the depot, he ended up knocking and "updating us" huge offload... they'd lost a massive number of staff, huge backlogs, whole thing was a shambles.

It returned to "a normal" some months later, but of late we've had delays again, 5-7 days maybe. Don't lose hope stuff may turn up, but it has been a while 😔

A while back I was listening to woman talking to guy at my post office, the jist I got was they are struggling and could be closed down anytime, he was saying they aren't allowed to advertise for business from what I understood but told her she could drum up business for them

The girl that works the Pharmacy side said it doesn't really make any money the other week, my work mate said same as he knows guy that runs one, he's trying to sell all sorts in his to make money

The prices now in a PO are crazy, Post a large Letter like DVD/Bluray and it's over 100g it goes to next level upto 250g which is now £2.70 2nd class and £3.90 with Tracking, you can make parcel bigger and send Small Parcel cheaper with tracking number

What they want is you doing it all online like everything else, looking at the site yesterday you can send 48hr Tracked upto 250g for £2.70
I remember looking at online prices before and if you print label yourself you saved like 20p but now savings are huge

Many post offices near me went years back, how long before there will be only one main one in town centre like banks?

The main one in my local town closed and moved to inside WH Smiths! The PO in my village closed years ago, when the Postmaster retired. We did have a mobile PO that came 1 morning a week, but now that's stopped, too.

we have a post office around the corner from my house, its in a tesco metro or something like that now, but its still ran old school, and when i say that, i mean totally shite

shut between the hours of 12-2 so the staff can have a lunch, isnt open if the staff phone in sick....not the way to run a business these days and its not really any wonder these small post offices arent around anymore in todays age

not fit for purpose anymore
