My first million on Robotron!

Only started playing this when it was featured recently on the 10p podcast

This makes me feel quite depressed.

Well yes and no...Robotron (for me anyway) is a game that'll always keep you on your toes no matter how good you get...There were a few times that I were down to single figures with spare men...its a game you can't really relax on otherwise you'll find that you'll lose men very easily...most I had 'in store' was around 89 from memory but that could easily go down...what did me in was fatigue..I really started to feel it around the 40mill mark and kept loosing more men than I were gaining...I had no idea what score was my goal (although it would definitely not have been near Dave Gomez WR of 180mill)...so when I started to flag I just thought a nice round 50mill would have been great to achieve but the game had other ideas 😄...then I thought 45mill would have been a nice round score to get to which I just missed by just under 300k 🥴😄...still there's always next time....the story is...you cannot relax with a game like Robotron no matter how good you are at the game...

Sweet baby Jebus, that’s an insane score!

I’ve only got to about lv 50 or so, does it get much harder after that?
Not really...the waves at 255 do rap back to the original wave 1 (think I rapped the waves around 8 times from memory)....but no the waves don't really get any harder...by your wave 50 you've had all the types of waves the machine can throw at you basically

I just get too excited when the million comes into view and usually tilt then. It’s physically hard work too!
Best thing to do is to relax your hands and don't over do the stick movements (christ that sounds so wrong 😄)...if you've got good leafs and good gromits in the sticks thats half the battle won right there...I have played other Robotron cabs and they haven't been that good after say 15mins play my wrists are feeling it lol

spent quite a bit of time trying to sort leafs turned out the contact was dirty. interested what grommet you use though, prefer it to be less movement so less wrangling around!

Yup, an old business card can freshen up those leaf switches.

I updated my MiSTer to get the N64 core the other day so I could finally play Robotron X. It’s quite a cool update although the graphics are a little muddy. What I was really surprised at was how easy it was. I got to lv 130 on my first go!
