So i'm on a few sites, not that many, but i find myself as i'm getting older just finding people terrible in general

I'm not just talking about trolls and people who post horrible things, but others who take offence to anything and everything, and i'm talking tiny tiny things here, and yet other more sensible people then pandering to them because they don't want to upset anyone

Were people always this shit, and we just didn't have the comms to know it, even the good folks seem to be getting swayed by things that they are told in the media

Let's create an inclusive environment......well what about the cunts, surely we can tell them they are cunts, can we not be honest anymore?

People are people, and I think generally people are the same as they have ever been, online in a virtual environment or offline face to face. There's good and bad in everything, old/young, Black/White, Male/female etc etc etc.....

Not everyone is a snowflake and will agree blindly to everything, and are scared to give their own opinion these days, if snowflake is the right word. Dunno.....

OAP couples who must snarl at each other whilst at home all day before venturing out at 8am on a Sunday, only to wait outside a supermarket for an hour before it opens to then go inside to then moan at the workers, they are the same breed of 'stuck in their ways' people as those who religiously read the Sun newspaper everyday before going home to watch the news that validates the crap they read earlier in the day. Being programmed to have an opinion that isn't really theirs and doesn't reflect what they are actually experiencing. Constantly complaining that crime has gone up, when the reality is that things are probably about the same as they have ever been, and probably not as bad as it was as most of society are now becoming too lazy to come out their house to even go to the shop.

And it's fine that they are living in their own sleepy 'don't affect me so it doesn't exist' dreamworld because it doesn't affect anyone else. They are staying stubborn, never trying anything new, never open to anything but their own opinions. They will simply gravitate towards the same mindset of people who will end up twitching curtains, complaining about the youth whilst being a literal prisoner in their own home where they hold the key.

Harsh? True? Maybe I'm trolling?.......make your own mind up.....but, we all have the ability to talk about what we are experiencing. Which by some peoples accounts, simply having an opinion is being sucked out of us due to the psychological warfare that's coming from all angles these days.

If you can remain true to yourself and not be changed into something you are not, then you are doing well during everything what's going on these days. Having everything happen at the same time, all in real time, it can be overwhelming at times and we all need our own quiet space to recharge once in a while.

Forgot to answer the topic title in my answer.

'Ever think the internet isn't for you?'

No, whilst I do get annoyed with all the ads and other crap, generally there's enough on here to appeal to everyone's tastes. And it's only gonna get more profound as time goes on, so it's best to get a thick skin now imo. The next 10 years is gonna be wild......

You did seem a tad grumpy on eBay threads. But you did say your piece :D

As much as this forum has threads that irritate people, I think it's one of the nicer places on the internet. I ventured back onto my old car forum recently and reminded myself how horribly toxic it was. Although maybe that was partially because no one held back from calling one another a twat.

Some peoples tolerance is higher than others, we all have our bad days mate. I'm not trying to make light of what you are saying, but I still stand by what I said. It's not about being insensitive about peoples feelings, but sometimes having a thick skin helps when someone winges about anything and everything.

Here's a video about a lady who meets her match.
It's kind of a battle of the thick skins, it recently made me laugh as it shows an annoying person getting owned by a more annoying person. As the saying goes, there's always someone faster/better/stronger....

Not been on car forums that much, it was dead on the CRX ones when I last looked but there does seem to be a lot of bitchin on them, think Arcade stuff is more relaxed hobby

Ah, yeah, the forum was dead, but after 20 years or resisting, everyone had moved to Facebook to be cliquey.
I have a theory with such places that as times goes on and cars get fewer and fewer, you lose people, but those left are mostly self-proclaimed super-experts, so there's no point joining in as you're either shot-down for suggesting, or patronised for asking a question.
I expect there's similar scenarios for gaming, but I don't think we're close to that here.

Don't think we are close to that? Try asking a question about an Arcade1Up...

If it's other people that can't take a bit of criticism or truth I honestly wouldn't worry about, as I see things now the world is inverted and creating a woke society is part of it, people should stop being offended and stop pandering to the fakestream media nonsense

when I popped in my Aunty's last Christmas she said, Now are you Woke :ROFLMAO: she used to be a teacher, bet she's glad she ain't these days

20 years or so ago, the internet was a great place.

People haven't changed that much, but social media gives idiots a soap box with the potential to reach millions. As a result the internet is awash with noise, trolling, prank content, reaction content, sympathy farming and the best you can hope for is to hide some corner (UKVAC) and talk about voltages or something.
