What are people's tips for decent chips?

The actifry was great as it stirred them, which softened up the edges and gave lots of crispy bits. Sadly ours eventually packed-in (wrecked the mechanism).

The static air fryer we now use just heats the chips and they end up like little inflated potato bags. Oven chips work a bit better in the fryer but that feels a cheat.
McCains frozen gluten free, depends how many you are cooking but i had a small batch on for about 8 minutes last night and they were fantastic

I have not had much success with fresh ones though

Oven chips (especially french fries) are really easy to over cook. I don't think my wife has ever managed to produce something that you couldn't break your teeth on. Secret is to take them out whilst still slightly soft. They seem to crisp up nicely on the plate.

Jacket potatoes are great in the air fryer. I microwave them for about 10 minutes first then lightly coat with olive oil and wack on 200 for about 29 minutes for a nice crispy skin

Late to the post, but had an air fryer for ages now. Upgraded a couple of times, always Ninja, got the latest dual drawer XL model.

Family of four, there is rarely a day where it is not used.

I know everyone has covered off chips and chicken etc, but honestly they do so much more.

I can fit a whole chicken in one side and with the temp probe it looks joints of any kind really well.

But here's a few other less common foods it does really well..

Frozen pastries, soft boiled eggs, mac n cheese (from scratch) are frequently in ours.

Three of us got fed up paying on average £8.50 each for lunch every day in London so we chipped in and bought a dual one for the office 5.5ltr and 3.5ltr for £70. Best thing we ever done!!
Most mornings we have either Bacon or Sausage rolls, F paying £3.50 + in a Cafe! Lunch we might just have Burgers and fries, Spicy chicken wings, Chicken stir fry, katsu curry, Steaks, Lamb chops with mini garlic potatoes, or whatever we fancy  we even got a Muffin maker and an Omelette maker lol

Have a small one at home that was given to us, but going to get the Ninja 10.4 ltr Ninja Foodi FlexDrawer with single large tray that you can put a divider into.

Perfect Chips in any Air Fryer (500g):
Set the temperature to 175 for 10 minutes. When time reaches 0 give them 3 shakes and put back again for 175 and 10 minutes. Your welcome :)

I'll have to give that a try as not had much luck with chips in the ninja, I just tend to fry home made chips for aboout 9 minutes. ! then have the fun of the chip fat ! is your 500g frozen fench fries or cut up potatoes ? The jacket potatoes I use same as above microwave then air fry. I di find it odd how some home supermarket stuff have instructions for air fryers and some do not. I have found Asda home Wedges to be best for my air fryer. Other branded ones got too hard ! I have this book, not too bad but the cheescake was so much bloody work and not as nice as shop one !!

You can make some lovely french toast in the air fryer.
French toast?
Eggs & bread ?

I love my
Air fryer it’s good.
Maybe should have a drain for the grease though to pour out whilst it’s hot and liquid. Then use the grease on wood for your fire in winter to keep warm. Or like Willy from Simpsons butter or all over head to toes before you get dress in the morning and that’ll keep the cold at bay!

Use King Edward potatoes with Olive Oil.

Soak the potatoes in water, drain and dry them, once they are dry then spray/cover with Olive Oil.

Then do as you say.

You are welcome. :)

Just had steak tonight…
My mate swears by an air fryer, but I was outside grilling with fire and smoke.
No smell in house, can’t beat the taste, and like arcades, it’s adjusting and fiddling as much as it is the end result for me personally!
Air fryers are lcds
