It’s great to hear others have some long term projects that go un finished but do get periodic attention ( often as bods says parts can be illusive or costly when they are available)
This is the summary of my life , having sidelined several breakdowns for non urgent repair? Or restoration?

I have so much to do it’s difficult to decide priorities , I keep looking at Trigger a carnival horse kiddie ride which I first encountered in1978 when my future associate had it in the arcade doorway of Lyon’s holiday camp in Rhyl .

It was made by Parker’s of Rhyl in the 60s and had a few odd maintenance jobs kept it a feature of several arcades until the Towyn floods of 1990 when at our Cambria arcade it immersed into 3ft of seawater . It got dried out and the motor serviced but by the mid 90s the plywood based began to weaken as the plywood layers separated and it was retired to my garden where it remains… the task to restore is massive now especially a total repaint in fairground colouring .needs tlc and passion !!!! Sentimental here too he can’t die yet?

Meanwhile I have a few pinballs stood vertical and folded with perished rubbers and also a few videos with minor issues, then a few other odd pieces needing tlc ?

One wheel of fortune was brought home to repair in 1980s and it moved here with me in 1984 the first machine to enter the then new workshop, and while it’s had odd days of love it’s had thousands of days neglected,, ouch!

The one thing to my advantage is I will not get bored with the variety but it’s tough having enough space to work on any one , among around 30 needing a share of that love??

I will try get a couple of picture into this but junk pile burials and floor space is restrictive .. then all those parts and tools etc need re- shelving ( again no shelf space left) you will get an insight into my lack of motivation maybe ?

Every flat surface here is sacred !!!!!

But I like it that other people have the same issues albeit maybe a smaller scale? So cheer me up and tell us all more of these woes and fix up promises? I am 72 this year so time might be against me too to make a bad situation worse?

The horse may need rusty joints (bit like my knees ) and bearings freeing up a whole marine ply base and coach paint ? Nice weather essential for both me and the kiddie ride .

The 1d WoF an arrow drive motor and marquee repaint maybe ? It’s converted to 1p already…. The circus shooter bit rusty inside as back door was missing for a few years ,, door I’d replaced but 10p slide is jamming but I have refurbed one on a previous occasion

The blue panel is my Jupiter jukebox works but to enjoy music while I work I need evict a nesting family of about 40 sentinel coin mechs ( going for a record! How many sentinels can you balance on a jukebox due to no other flat surface shelving ?)

Cocktail cabs can be stacked but then mars coin mechs just pile up on them and under them ….
Like any flat top of a video cab or control panel ……

Even erected pinballs get loaded the big flat glass surface excites me …… so much space to stack bits … the queens castle is 90% restored but suddenly a whole herd of microvitec cub chassis stampeded and settled there….. only a few months ago then it got cold weather to continue

My whitewater pinball is also becoming a shelf unit it’s hidden under there somewhere .. it too is a long term repair I hope to get to soon ???? We’ll see ????

I can’t get near any floor space to photograph it as it’s rarer than parts for these older items .. parts often need making for some mid century antiques!

The show must go on … that mess below will make many of you lost mojo folks feel quite cheerful - no doubt?

Dont panic I can take a few of them Jamma cabs of your hand for free and clear you some space :) , Maybe have a good walk round and clear some more stuff as well.

On a serious note a walk around yours would be like a kid in a sweet shop for some of us !

It’s quite a sight to watch guys slobber with excitement sometimes and I have in the past given lots of stuff away but then regretted it when I need that unimportant item later … I say “”” if you chuck it away today you will need it the very next day “””

Equites once promised he would come and catalogue all my bits …. That was about 15-20 years ago … I think he is still saving up to buy enough note paper to write on ?

Worst thing is I know I have a tool or item but often spend an hour or more looking for it…. I am fairly organised and many things I go straight to but I just hoard so much stuff that I could buy again quicker … but then I just shove the new replacement on a shelf drawer or handy nail and it too joins the realm of lost or missing items !

I am easily distracted too .. the other day I picked up a pcb sliding holder and it had fell from a shelf and cracked one side.. not serious issue as they take 10 screws when fitted so in two bits may not be critical ?

However maybe a bit of perfection set in and I mixed some araldite and repaired it. May never get used? But it’s back in one piece, quite satisfying….. thanks for the offer tho Dave 👍

That hose looks like one of the Merry-go-round style horses, very neat.

Agree with that Dave one. Would love to just go rummaging through that lot, all those hidden gems just waiting to be rediscovered, lol.

Looks like an Art installation.
I Actually have a players choice to restore similar to the one in your ‘undefeated ‘ storage area. It has Nintendo embossed plastic sides .

I spend hours looking for Tools, Bits pretty much everything I need to use which is another reason it takes so long to do stuff and jobs put on hold till I find it

Trying to finish off the Monitor Surrounds on the twin driver I fitted LCDs in, I have some black plastic I thought I'll use to finish some parts, came of massive plasma TV as I sometimes need to make something, seems I have thrown half of it trying to get rid on junk and thought these 2 bits will be enough and now I'm thinking I can use this I need 3 bits to use on for sides and only got enough for 3 so I now need to find something else or buy something

There’s places there where you can only see as much of a whole machine as the cut down clue photos in the ‘guess the artwork’ thread ….. I thought you would enjoy the pictures

You not to far from me I dont think , I could come over for a coffee and a day in the sweet shop  lol. Not as I want anything I just find looking through stuff like this is great. In the 90's We went to the old pontins at pwllheli and they let me in what they used to call " The Grave Yard " I was in there for 3 1/2 hours it was rammed with stuff they did not want and could not get rid of. If I knew what I do now I would have offered to buy a load of the stuff , Gutted.

I have a twin racing cab that’s only half restored. One side has been shot blasted, powder coated and restored fully. It’s rather lovely actually. The other side is fully working and linked up for 2 player, but the metal work needs the same treatment to complete the restoration. This will be the fourth year I haven’t managed to get around to it so I’m posting this to add a little pressure to myself!
It’s difficult when it’s all fully working to take it all apart. Not just because of the mess and inability to play it, but because I’m never 100% convinced it will work when I put it all back together. If it ain’t broke and all that.
Needs to happen though and this is the year. Mark my words! 🤣

Gauntlet cab to finish off as just bought some parts for the sticks and a Domy Jr complete refurb as it's currently an expensive rust bucket with a very nice monitor onboard.

@TheDaddy We’ve had many grave yards over the years .. the last time Lyon’s camp shut for good we filled two tip sized roll off wagon bodies with machines we probably chucked away many hundreds , all sorts of Arcadia .

. The mrs makes a good cuppa and often says I can ‘ talk for England ‘if it was an Olympic sport which can reflect in my posts?

We have been given entire arcades from time to time free or silly buy a meal price

Knightleys funfair at Towyn shut their Millers Cottage park arcade a few years ago and put it all in their 40ft waltzer wagon Luke offered me the lot free. Often too much to use and end up with big bonfires.

We often go Stoke to friends it’s about 1/2 hour (30 miles) to Newcastle u/l from here. Think you not far from there?

I would have to agree with Dave, you could do tours !
You would want to be tethered on a rope tho so If you got into difficulties in the arcade abyss you could get winched out or lifted by a grabber.

Lyons camp , I spent my first 16 years of my life going there !!! Its was great it realy was. We had 2 Caravans there and went every summer. Robin Hood next door , We used to sneak across there and play on there play area as it was better than the Lyons one at the time. I remember the sit down Bingo there & I was introduced to the ' OXO ' 2p one arm bandit that I am still trying to buy (Well one thats not at silly money), It was the best place ever it really was. I have so so many fond memories of Rhyl and still love to go even though its not quiet what it used to be.

We all say it a million times but I would do anything to go back in time.

I am 10 - 15 minutes from stoke mate.

Colin my associate was on there from 1974-81 I joined him in 1978 it was tendered leasehold every year… sometimes two years … I think 81 or perhaps ‘85 was when we stupidly sublet the bingo space to Les Harker he then undercut our tender offer for two years so we lost it .. he re-wired the plug sockets to above machine height plus a new carpet but then to balance cost he refused to pay Craig any rent so 1984 we were back for a while missing one year Crown tried it for a year but we got back in then until Joseph and Jacob Mounds bought Robin Hood then did a hostile take over of Lyon’s in early 90s and shut the arcade as Associated Leisure (now called Rank Leisure Machine Sales) had improved the RH one and they combined both camps .
… if you were spending your pocket money in there you possibly paid it to Harold who worked for us for ever…. He had a bad speech stammer so quite memorable
For a while we opened the upstairs which had 7 pool tables all different cloth colours plus machines all round sides, and a very popular Wurlitzer jukebox now still lives in our living room … Heavy going to lift stuff up them stairs but we were young and fit back then … you might remember Trigger?
If late 70s and the 80s were your stay years? If so thankyou for spending those pennies !!!! We had lots of video games many in Goliath cabs there also several misc woody cabs too .. I only remember a few titles Moonwalker was nearest door .

We were all early 80' to early 90's , i remember shaking a machige and i got band ! Lol i was only 7 or so though , my Dad dragged me in there to apologise lol. I do remember a young lad who had down syndrone at one point ? Cant remember whaf year but 80's for sure. The change exchange was in the middle back the towards the back if i remember right.

I assume nothing there now but redemption if anything.

I have tried a few times to book there for old times sake but always been too much money.

Dave.

4) Late Summer **** Make plans for a Neo Geo big red scratch build with an entire cabinet contents salvaged by my friend in NY and shipped over. Some quick testing - led marquee panel working, 4 slot also , k7000 chassis needs attention
Possibly of interest to @mourix ?

Currently working on my Sammy Atomiswave SD cab. The weight of the restore was supposed to be the big respray and custom HW, but a big fault on the Wei-Ya monitor is kicking my butt harder than any CRT ever did. So currently I am way in the deep end trying to master that cursed thing.

Another big one is a Demolition Man pinball refurb. The electronics were easy but all the mechanical stuff is new to me. Not posting that one online as I am not active on any pinball forums as these machines are usually way above my price range but this time I got lucky.

@Flyback2021 You have my attention :) How are you going about the cabinet plans?
