I have nailed my issue down with groovymame roms not loading in attract mode !
to
Either mame comfig or
Attract mode configuration

I think
Because

So if I go back to windows mode
My mame roms & switch res work perfect . Games load no probs

When I’m in attract mode front end my games roms don’t run!?

Só it’s got to be to do with attract mode ?

Help appreciated massively

Then run update ..

I just cant see how this works ?

Does it find the games on a scan but just not start them ? Check the path of the mame.exe....i think Chunksin build looks for the old exe name which was mame64.exe so you can just copy make.exe and rename it so they are both there
Yea finds them in the scan ..
Then just dont load ..
I think your right with the make file thing , thanks

I’m not sure what i gotta do though with the make file ?

Cheers for help man

Só just Rename mame.exe
To mame64.exe

This makes sence 😎
Going to try this 👍

look at the scripts folder and you can edit the batch file to see its just copying over a file from a to b.
Groovymame 0.277 is the latest, you should be using that really.
You should ensure your AttractMode is set to look for mame.exe as described above, and you may need to edit the Update script to copy over mame.exe and not mame64.exe

Attract mode always causes me pain but usually due to me not changing things like paths, exe names etc. Make sure your Attract Mame cfg is sending you to the right place and that the actual mame cfg has the right rompath.

Yeh I looked at my script folder in attract it was empty ?

One of my groovymame is
0.270 when I run just mame in windows mode ..

Read me file is still 0.220

So it’s possible I have wrong roms on this ver.

I’m only using mame64.exe as my executable ..

I will try to edit update script ..

Is an embedded ver of groovy 0.277 avalible ?

Thanks 👍

I’m well impressed with this
I have 3 mister setups too
And it no less impressive .
And when it comes to interfacing hardware it’s superior.

Im not sure what you mean by "embedded" but there is a groovymame 0.277 release.....but there is not an "arcade only" version.
This isnt a big deal at all, you don't have to have any more than the arcade roms on it. It only really impacts clrmamepro if you use that for rom management.

Chunksin win 7 embeded windows ver

Let’s cab be flicked off at the wall without the possibility of it corrupting windows .

Or basically you don’t need to shut windows down before turning off!

Makes it cab friendly

I will try my best ..

I grabbed 2.77 groovymame

chunksin instructions are just to
Grab the mame.exe drop that on root of usb stick,

Plug That into pc - Then hit U button in attract mode front end ..
This brings up a menu with update mame from usb ..

I tried that on one of my set ups
And it couldn’t find any USB ..
But maybe that’s just my pc playing up..
I have a few set ups só I will try again with another set up ser if I get same issue 👍,

Maybe this just allows for 0.277 roms to run & don’t actually update anything ?…

In which case I need to just drop the embeddd versions and just install groovymame 0.277?

for the actual improvements to mame to be present ,

Well as before, exit out of attract mode, run task manager and open up a new windows explorer session....then look at the script it actually calls, it could be your usb stick is the wrong drive letter, so put in the stick and see what it assigns, check the location of your new exe on the stick is correct. Check the file size of the mame exe on your D drive matches what you think you copied over.
You will see the script doesn't do much more than copy over the file. It doesn't search for new roms, that's something you need to do next in your attract mode tab menu.

Yeh I’m ok with roms etc..

I will look at the drive letter it could be that 👍..

And thanks for the info on script Will see if it’s asking for
Mame.exe or mame64.exe..

I'm sure I remember both the update script and the default emulator configuration are looking for the older mame64.exe filename and I update script and config accordingly on the 3 cabs I have Chunksin"s build running on.
