Let’s search this friend up and get you reunited with your machine .lol

I’m pretty sure I saw someone on Facebook telling the same story ,same machine and how he lost touch purposely ,so he could enjoy the beauty forever šŸ‘€šŸ¤£

I assume your joking about the facebook post !! I want it back !! But then again me and the wife want a 2p coin pusher and a One Arm Bandit (PM If you have one at the right price !) Room is tight , Bit like me :)

Depressed now ! lol

It’s an addiction that’s hard to control
I spent everything on these
I done it with poker machines too
Then words of wisdom,a friend said .you work hard for your money .why put it in them. …of course them words were most likely said before .its understanding the words at the right time and that was it .

It's a terrible addiction I lost everything back then including friends through it who were only trying to help,I'm good friends now with the operator who's family who owned and still do a few arcades and we sit down and talk about how his brother and dad tried their hardest to stop me in their places but I would just go further afield to other ones so they just gave up barring me.

Bell Fruit Royle Family

Saves me a few quid when I get the itch to gamble.

FairPlay for telling your story .
It was the same where I went .you weren’t allowed to play them unless 18
Of course thar meant nothing ,maybe made the cravings worse .

Fruit machines could be the next big collectors cabs in my 4.5yrs at my former employer Inspired we must of scrapped thousands as the industry moved toward digital only products.

Yes these were probably just a few years old in 2019 when my grandson helped me and took a couple of pictures to show his mum what we did….. the white frame one just in photo left was a StarWars barcrest MPU6 probably would be sought after by SW fans … next left a Paragon quiz with flat screen monitor in it … all CatC Ā£100 jackpots just remove banknote recycling units and PSUs for scrap … and as said we were starting to site multi game ā€˜casino king’ type digital cabs they stay in pubs longer and have internet upgrades saves swapping full machines every few weeks!

Just drive over weigh bridge at Thornecliffe recycling , send them off tail lift like lemmings about 10-12 per load , weigh out empty pay Ā£72 as regulars (normally Ā£85/ton + vat) and staff there sweep up all the escaping pound/silver coins , if there’s any hiding in bottoms of cabs, a bonus for them , and they smash them to bits for us with sledge hammers and spades, satisfying the gambling commission they have been destroyed… a few odd ones escape such fate but not often as Mark was once fined (Ā£4,800) allowing a buyer to operate 2 illegally after saying they were home use …he had a mini casino in his cellar in Liverpool. Black Jack and roulette tables too and loads of customers … always a danger of selling to public. Better to crush! Don’t need to prove it tho’

Some money munchers there ,was rat race similar to winstrike ?
I loved the skill stops on the machines

Win Strike has the same sounds as Rat-Race, but is a different game.
Hit-Line was the same as Win Strike.

Games that were ā€re-glassesā€ of Win-A-Gain that I can think of were:-

Ace Chase
Chase It!
Star Turn
Rat-Race
Gold Mine
Super Win

I’d be interested to know if there were any others.

I don’t have any fruit machines myself, but fondly remember the following:-

Ā£1.50 Jackpot:-
BWB - Win-A-Gain 2p and 10p version (the original, not the re-release)
BWB - Rat Race 2p (probably the most popular of the Win-A-Gain clones)
BWB - Step ā€˜n’ Skip 2p
PCP - Spoof 2p (the original, not the re-release)
BellFruit - The Black Hole 2p

Ā£2.00 Jackpot:-
PCP - Bank Raid 2p and 5p versions
PCP - Fruit Cracker 2p
BWB - Tuppenny Cracker (Crack the Nut) 2p

Ā£3.00 cash/Ā£6.00 token Jackpots:-
Maygay - The Simpsons (the original version, not the releases)
Maygay - Pink Panther
Maygay - Monopoly
Bell Fruit - Only Fools & Horses
Bell Fruit - Cops ā€˜n’ Robbers (the original, not the re-release)
Bell Fruit - Around The Town
Barcrest/BWB - Road Hog 5p
Barcrest/BWB - Andy Capp 5p

Ā£4.00 Cash/Ā£8.00 token Jackpots
JPM - Monopoly 60
JPM - Rollercoaster
JPM - Casino Crazy
JPM - Adders and Ladders

There’s quite an active group on Facebook for Fruit Machines. The admin of the group Fruit Machines for Sale (Mark Baker) regularly posts his pickups on there and then sells a lot of them on eBay.

I think I need to add Viz (Barcrest £6 JP) and Screen Play (Maygay £2.40/£4.80) to the list as well :)
Screen Play had a CRT in the middle and you could answer trivia questions to advance up the trail.

I think everyone who visited arcades in the early 80s played Rat Race , HitLine, GoldMine , Steppa Nudge , Each Way Nudge, HiLo Silver and Plus Nudge … all probably by JPM or kit derivatives? (BWB).

However some of my favourites I hung on to at home for a while were late 80s JPM machines with Yamaha sampled sound cards in the MPS2-CPU ….. Hagar, Fairground, Mousetrap, Popeye, IronMike, three of which were sold on to one avid collector ,(along with a Bf Doctor Who and Big Breakfast plus an original Maygay Simpsons if I recall) , called Ben Oldbury who is widely known to fruity collectors nation wide? He built a large garden arcade to house his collection of more than a dozen jpm bell fruit and maygay classics .. not alone so yes very collectible 80s and earlier ( see mpumecca/fruitemu forum or web site which I am also on but rarely comment there now)

Best FAQ on these …. How does it know what the well rattled shaken dice in reel 4 is landed on……. ANSWER… spoiler- 6 seperate different dice in 6 compartments . Hollowed to lighten weight (only had 5 sides and one hole) so only able to show facing number…. With an opto flag same as any other reel…. There you go!
