INFO: The Tekken-Net ID Card Decal Stickers set consists of two stickers: one die-cut to the shape of the card reader/writer's surface, decorated with hexagonal geometric patterns, and another rectangular sticker with Japanese instructions and the "Tekken-Net" logo.

Both stickers have been restored separately, according to the original design. The sticker for the base of the card reader/writer has been completely reconstructed with the original decorative pattern, including the printing halftone.

INFO: The stickers for the monitor of the Atari Stunt Cycle arcade cabinet have been restored according to the original printing method. This means they were printed on clear vinyl, using white ink as a base to make them opaque, and using the original die shapes for each sticker.

There are two differences from the original:

1) The screen printing has been replaced with CMYK digital printing.

2) A clear gloss laminate has been added to protect the stickers.

INFO: The Atari Football Arcade cabinet is a cocktail-style cabinet with two facing control panels, one on each side. The decoration of these control panels was often not exactly the same, with one side—the player 1 side—being more intricately decorated. The artwork was spread across the entire control panel, and there were many more images of American football players. The colors, the size of the artwork, and the position of the logo also differed from side to side.

Until now, users looking to restore their cocktail arcade cabinet had to settle for restoring only one design, the simplified one, which was the only one that had been recovered. However, for the first time in the hobby, Zona Arcade has restored the other, more attractive and complex design that was missing.

INFO: Over the past few weeks, I've been restoring the arcade marquee for the game "Strider." Honestly, I didn't imagine it would be so difficult, having already done many other restorations.

Well, I've completely remade many background elements and corrected a significant distortion caused by the soldered file; it had a tremendous curve. I've also reconstructed the background itself, as it seemed to be a very jagged piece.

INFO: This control panel overlay from the game The Legend of Kage by TAITO was scanned from the original acquired by Zona Arcade and Mikonos 15 years ago. It was scanned at 600 dpi and restored today as part of a project to showcase the extensive collection that Zona Arcade has been building for the past 20 years.

Among the unique features of this arcade artwork is the use of fluorescent inks for three colors: yellow, orange, and fuchsia.

As you can see, it is a NOS (New Old Stock) piece in perfect condition, which was never cropped.

I carried out a very thorough restoration and corrected some color asynchronizations from the screen printing process.

The ink is applied to a transparent or white silicone backing, which protects the adhesive areas, and a backing paper on top to maintain the design's consistency.

It's applied like a normal sticker: remove the protective paper from the sticker, stick it on, and then remove the backing paper. Done!

INFO: The joystick and button stickers for the ROMSTAR 1942 Arcade Cabinet control panel were first scanned and restored by Zona Arcade in 2013 and have now been reissued with improved restoration and die-cutting.

These button and joystick stickers have a very distinctive format, which is repeated in almost all ROMSTAR artwork. The button stickers are die-cut labels that allow the button to be inserted and the label to fit snugly; the function of each button is indicated at the bottom with an icon or drawing and text. The joystick label is hexagonal with a star symbol to indicate 4 or 8 directions. A larger sticker with the objective, instructions, and/or strategies for the arcade game accompanies all of this.

Since this classic game is designed for one player or two players taking turns, at Zona Arcade we can customize the sticker template, adding a second directional star for control panels that have two joysticks mounted, and enhance the result, at the request of the interested user.

"1942 Romstar Joystick and Button Decal Sticker" (ROMSTAR) arcade artwork files scanned and restored in Zona Arcade by Mikonos.

INFO: Restoration of the instruction artwork for the Lunar Lander Arcade Cabinet by ATARI, located on the control panel. The artwork is reversed and adhered to the 3.3mm thick plastic.

The restoration was meticulous, preserving the entire design without any rework. The red lines have been slightly enhanced to achieve a uniform thickness while respecting certain limits, resulting in 90% of this aspect of the original being retained. The comparison photos clearly show how some imperfections in the screen printing have been preserved.

The original plastic has also been designed, though not shown, for laser cutting, should any enthusiast require it.

INFO: This is the 5th "For Here" sticker from the manufacturer SEGA that I have identified and restored in their arcade cabinets, but it has an important peculiarity, and that is that it is a transparent sticker with white ink to opaque the design, which makes it a sticker whose reproduction is more expensive, since, in addition to die-cutting the vinyl, it has to be ordered to be printed in a place that has a plotter with white ink available.

INFO: The artwork "Dungeons and Dragons Shadow Over Mystara Marquee," part number AWOO197 from CAPCOM, has been enlarged to better fit any arcade machine with a narrow marquee space without sacrificing the main artwork.

This was achieved by enlarging the spaces on either side of the main artwork, which were originally created using an effect called “Different Clouds” and reproduced with the same colors. Additionally, the part number has been added back, shifted further to the right from its original position.

INFO: Restoration work on the "Vampire Hunter 2 Darkstalkers' Revenge CPS2 Gameboard Case Label Sticker VH2979006" from Capcom, corresponding to the Japanese version. I had to work harder than I expected to correct the dark blue and cyan colors to balance the tones due to poor previous restoration work. A little cloning work was done to correct wear and tear, lost details of the artwork were recovered, and the project was finished.

The chosen blue color is very common for this type of label. The goal was to standardize the label with the other game labels and case labels for Capcom CPS2 boards.

INFORMACIÓN: La digitalización y restauración del cristal original de la pantalla de la máquina recreativa de videojuegos "Video Selection" del fabricante COMAVI ha sido revisado nuevamente por parte de Zona Arcade y Mikonos y se ha realizado un cambio en el color azul. La discrepancia de color entre las líneas azules que pueden verse en la decoración del marco de la pantalla y el panel de control sólo pueden explicarse por un efecto de degradación del pigmento aplicado al cristal y que no se ha dado o se ha dado en menor medida en el policarbonato serigrafiado de los paneles de control. Este plástico de los panel de control parece que protege mejor los colores de la radiación U.V. de la luz natural y artificial, y de ahí las tremendas diferencias de color aunque el estilo del dibujo ese el mismo.

Lo coherente es pensar que todas las piezas de una cabina arcade, genérica o no, usen los mismos colores en todas las piezas decorativas; esto se basa en un principio de economía y estética. No tiene sentido que usar 4 colores en bezel y usar los mismos 4 colores en el panel de control, pero alterar el tono de uno de ellos. No se estarían usando 4 colores, sino 5. Por otro lado, el principio de economía indica que cuantos más colores se usan, más caro es el diseño en la serigrafía porque hay que fabricar más mallas para aplicar los colores y más pigmentos.

Con la marquesina de las recreativas Video Selection ocurriría lo mismo, pues está fabricada en cristal, que es del mismo material del bezel. El pigmento azul muestra un tono similar, que ha tendido con los años a un azul claro.

No obstante, seguiremos abiertos a que sean los propios usuarios los que manifiesten preferencia por el color azul para su reproducción impresa, dejándolos optar por un azul más claro o por el azul oscuro, que, con firmeza, creemos que es el tono original de todas las piezas de las cabinas recreativas Video Selection.

El diseño del marco de pantalla Video Selection es el mismo en los modelos de muebles arcades: Video Selection primigenio (sin número), Video Selection I, Video Selection II y Video Selection para 4 jugadores.

Existe un segundo modelo de Bezel Video Selection con un diseño más simplificado, donde las líneas interiores blanca y azul han desaparecido. Podéis consultar el diseño en los enlaces relacionados al final del presente hilo.

What I restored:

INFO: In this restoration project on the Japanese version of "Cadillacs and Dinosaurs CPS 1.5 Game Board Label Sticker PCAD92C006L" by CAPCOM) and I've focused on increasing the file resolution y restoring sharpness to the image.

INFO: Over the years, I've had the opportunity to create new printed reproductions of the "Stunt Cycle Bezel/Marquee" from the manufacturer ATARI, and I've always wanted to get closer and closer to the original, not only visually through the colors, but also in printing materials, aesthetic presentation, and conceptually; and this is the closest I've come to it yet, in my opinion.

I had noticed in several photographs of the original Stunt Cycle arcade cabinets that there was a rectangular space in the upper left corner, intended for brief game instructions, which wasn't screen-printed like the rest of the artwork. The instructions appeared to be made of paper, due to their yellowish appearance, and were always precariously placed behind the bezel glass; so I thought that, in this new opportunity to reproduce this arcade decoration more faithfully, I should...

I calibrated the space for those instructions, drew a specific vector die for that rectangular space, and delivered the piece to the printer.

Regarding the instructions, I found that there were several types of them and in different colors, and I reproduced them all to be placed on the glass later, but I will explain this in the specific thread to talk about such instructions.

INFO: In this restoration project on the Japanese version of "The Punisher CPS 1.5 Game Board Label Sticker PUN KBJ93/5 AL" (CAPCOM), I worked hard restoring the central image, which was completely blurred at the bottom. Now the label is perfect, and the colors are better and richer.

What I restored:


INFO: "Atari Football Offensive Defensive Plays Plastic" from the manufacturer ATARI is a 5mm thick polycarbonate piece located on the player control panels of a cocktail-style arcade cabinet.

This plastic is decorated with a graphic depicting various offensive and defensive strategies, which players can select at different points in the game. A red light on the back confirms the selected strategy.

The restoration of this arcade graphic involves cleaning the graphics, creating the dies for the red lights that illuminate the plastic, and the dies for the screws. Additionally, the original 5mm thick plastic will be laser-cut with the screw dies.

INFO: In this restoration of the "Versus City Side Art" from the manufacturer SEGA, I had to remaster a significant portion of the artwork through vectorization, as I couldn't preserve the dot pattern of the main figure. The scan wasn't very good, and there were also many printing errors (inconsistent areas in the pattern). So, designing this dot pattern led me to vectorize the entire main figure as well, but I achieved good fidelity by ensuring the dots were the same size, had the same orientation, and covered the same area.

In the main logo, I was able to recover and restore the original dot pattern. In fact, the entire logo is original.

The Versus City Side Arts from SEGA display a much more vibrant blue than other pieces in the artwork set in all the photographs I've been able to gather for documentation during the restoration. It's curious, because the scan I'm using as a starting point for the restoration shows a very dark blue, almost purple, like in the CPO (Common-Original Project).

I have decided to change the dark purple color of the restoration to a lighter shade to be consistent with the visual information gathered and because I believe most users will prefer it. However, I'm open to printing these pieces with the genuine purple color seen in the rest of the artwork, and I acknowledge that the Side Arts are the exception in the vast majority of cases analyzed.

INFO: This is the first time the "Stunt Cycle Monitor stickers" have been printed in the hobby arcade exactly as they were originally, using digital printing instead of screen printing.

White ink was used for the background of the stickers to make them opaque, as they are transparent, and the original pre-cut layout was used for each sticker. To protect the prints from dirt, a clear gloss laminate was applied, ensuring they will never deteriorate and can be washed.
