I want a cheap user friendly arcade.. I am not concerned if it needs work doing to it as i see that part of the fun.

Thanks in advance.

Hi pal.
You need to ask yourself the following:-
Do you want a one off game with dedicated cab eg. PAC-MAN , Donkey kong etc.
Do you want to swap games as the need takes you?
What's your favorite arcade game ?

A cheap working jamma is the best start.
Strip it down and clean at your own speed ( I recommend one part at a time, play again before moving on to next item)
Play a arcade emulator on your PC to check out if you could play that game over and over again first, and also to find hidden gems.

But most of all have fun both playing and maintaining your own piece of arcade history.
Let us know how you get on.

Think of size... remember cabs come in all sizes from large dedicated cabs to the more modest generic cabs, down to caberet cabs (smaller still).

Also function. For example, when I got my first cab I thought I'd only ever run a MAME PC so I got a nice little videomaster generic cab. Its the classic design, coin door at the front, access from the back (ooh err).

Problem.... since that day I've got "the bug" and my collection now includes a growing number of PCBs which from time to time I'd like to have in a cab... now I'm looking to replace my current cab with one that has a larger access door on the front save pulling the thing away from the wall every time I want access to the innards.

Price. Dedicated cabs fetch more money, rare cabs even more! If its your dream to have that donkey kong cab that you have fond memories of as a kid at the caravan park then fine... if your like me and have memories of the 100 and 1 generic seaside arcades then look for a generic cab, there are many brands to look out for and some (if your prepared to do a little restoration work) can be very cheap.

errrm... can't think of much more at this time.

Thanks guys for the input so far.

A generic cab sounds like the ticket for me.. gives me some options with more games and so on.. If i get the BUG i can then look at dedicated cabs.. and i am most certainly up for putting my mark on the cab so restoration is not a problem at the right money.
