Disappointing news and a significant delay but will stick with my pre-order bundle which I paid upfront for now.
I think so too, so I'd have to pay more to reorder next year. I wouldn't have cancelled if it wasn't for x, y and z.I still expect the price of the system to increase quite a bit, it seemed a bit low from the start considering what you are getting.
If it's entirely true that it was ready to go and they've come a cropper due to manufacturing falling through, then I do sympathise too. It was obvious they had a massive challenge infront of them either way though. They'll need to get some through to production to be able to test them before release too.I'm not going to get angry over details that I'm completely guessing. Why's this always the default stance?
I actually sympathise. Previous products delivered well and this was set to be a huge hit. Now they're getting pounded with refund requests. This'll never generate the same hype next year. It's fucked 'em.
I've decided to request a refund as well. Can't afford to hold it after receiving redundancy a couple of weeks ago.
Well yes I am going to say FPGA/ASIC is definitely a form of emulationReasonable take John.
I don't even have a condition. I just think they had a roadmap based on manufacturing partners that gradually went pear shaped until they had to come clean. I'm not sure about misleading marketing. Was it one of those classic 'not emulation' claims? That's kind of a semantic.
We get older, time gets more precious and there are too many year waits these days. We don't have it to waste!I probably need to just chill out. For some reason these days any delay or deviation from what is promised just makes me think I'm being mugged off, which is probably not the case. Grumpy old bastard springs to mind (well at least that's what I used to call my Dad 😂)
No-emulation is annoyingly incomplete shorthand. The word itself in it's english definition doesn't distinguish between software or papier-mache, but in common use I can see why marketing wants to distinguish from a software environment which comes with an OS layer, frame buffer, drivers, APIs.
When even experts in the field still debate over this (Jotego made the comparison to ASICs used in the Megadrive 2) I feel I'm safer staying out of it. Most of us here know roughly what's meant behind the buzzwords now, but yeah, many casual buyers wouldn't. I did think good info was provided for further reading though.
Mine was next day, but that was before this delay. I expect a bit more of a wait as I’m sure there are lots of refunds going throughHow long does it take to get the refund? Cheers all 👍
