Well my luck has just got worse.

Just been round the back to put a couple of things into our caravan and looks like the mice have moved in.
This was an immaculate caravan that cost a bloody fortune 3 years ago but now it looks like a bomb site.
They have chewed through all the seating which is destroyed now, bedding, pillows, blankets and even stared in some wiring. I was only on their just before Xmas checking everything was ok and now this.

I have insurance but don’t suppose they will cover this type of thing. No idea what the repair cost will be but I think I’m at the end of my tether with paying out for cars, house repairs, Arcade stuff and now this.

Advice to all caravan owners if any of you have them, set mice traps and check daily. Going to get this sorted and sell the thing. Only used it 3 times in the last 2 years. Biggest waste of 8k to date.

That's a bugger! Sounds like they made a real mess in a short time. Could it be rats? I've just been up in the loft today as something's been coming in at night and scratching around, waking me up. Whatever it is (sounds too big to be a mouse, unless it's wearing clogs) has chewed all the foam pipe lagging to buggery. I've put a couple of poison sachets down so will check back in a week or so.

My sympathies for the caravan. Little f*ckers!

No and my new project Mini Cooper s I bought back in November to have some fun with has has a fatal garage report yesterday of a massive oil leak with a £1000 to £1400 repair bill which I’m not going to bother with. Only done 200 miles in it. Clearly the bmw ones are not built as good as the old minis. I used to thrash mine like hell and it never let me down, this thing has given up already.

Maybe let my Star Wars upright go and find another hobby!!!

Yeah my Gf wants a cooper s and most I have seen have had pretty terminal engine/gearbox problems that have put me off buying one.

Was the mini registered between 2007 and 2011?

The mini is brilliant and quite fast. Main problems which I now know about are,

Crank sensor leak,
Timing chain leak and rattle,
Suspension top mounts. Mine replaced yesterday £230.
Front end bushes around £200
Gearbox problems 2nd to 3rd,
Oil sump gasket,
Clutch ( can cost £800 to £1600 depending what you need)
Main engine ring seal. Part costs £19.60 but around 1k to fit which is the problem with mine.

I wouldn’t buy one if you want to keep it a long time as they are a bottom less pocket. Only buy with a warranty.

Mine is on a 04 so it’s the supercharged version which apparently is the better one to have but comes with early faults.
Even the supercharger can cost £800just to service the oil in it. I bought it for fun and luckily it’s just a fun car so if it’s off the road no problem. I took it for a good thrash after my post earlier and it’s now in its place with some cardboard underneath cathching the oil!!!

This could be almost as unreliable as a model 3 step 2 sega driving game.

Only buy one from a dealer with a full Warranty.

I will drive it till it dies then eBay for spares or repair.

To add my bit . Are you sure it's not squirrels ? They are very nasty sh1ts to say the least. Get those in the loft at times here . For the caravan, we had one years ago and 2 places of enter . Under front seats by water heater was an air duct, very concealed to see and had to crawl under to find. The other was a gap by rear mushroom vent , they really can get in tight places .

Thanks for the heads up northwest I will take a look in the morning to see if I can find gaps. It’s defiantly mice as their is mouse poo on the small blanket on the floor they seemed to like best.

I have filled the caravan with traps so might know more in the morning.

Yes it is mid r53. I love the sound of the supercharger when it wines. Really wanted an original cooper or s but they are 20k.
This was mad moment of madness after some beers on eBay. Went and viewed it done a deal and took it away no messing or tyre kicking. Looked mint on the outside and only saw a small oil leak. Must be my hard driving and thinking it was built to last. Could have even been the rave music blaring out of the cassette payer as it’s he only cassett I could find. All my mates and kids think it’s cool it has s cassett player still in it.

There are a few cab owners that will relate to this. What a nightmare mate

Dont waste money on traps. Their crafty little things. They will catch one but others soon wise to it. Just put down poison, dont like killing things but dont have choice

Had them in the house, maybe the got in when i was having extension done, digging up ground disturbs them. Or could of been in a machine i bought seeing the places some cabs come from.

Parents had them in the car chweing up the rear seats, they trapped it and then let it out a bottom of garden, she said there must of been a few as we caught a few, or like i pointed out they caught same one 3/4 times that they kept letting out. I would of took it miles away to let out

Lucky they never chewed any cables in my cabs, as i gound loads of poison they had been collecting and stored it all over the place. So it will go quickly when u put it down

I can relate sadly.

I've since repaired and moved the cab on as I found a replacement but mice ate the PSU section wiring in my original Space Harrier Dlx.

I also bought a brand new Mazda MX-5 last year after having 6 years of Mini Cooper S problems (drive shaft issues; 3 months in the garage etc etc..) So far, 3 people have driven into my Mazda (only 1 of which owned up to it) and over £3k's worth of damage done. I just want rid of it now, as even though it's Mazda repaired to new again, I know it's been hit and it kinda takes the edge off.

I’m glad I only bought it as a fun car otherwise I would be gutted.

Update on caravan- caught one little mouse today in a trap so will how many more appear.
