Amsterdam - places to go ?

Hi Guys

I've decided to have a few days in the DAM next week and just wondered if anyone has any recomendations for places to go that I might miss from the usual tourist track ?

I don't know anyone who's ever been to Amsterdam and can remember much about it, myself included

Went in 1987, all I can remember is I found a coffee shop..............................

If you want to see the sights, avoid the coffee shops.

And don't eat "cake" in a coffee shop while killing time waiting to head to the airport for your return flight !! Not the smartest thing I've ever done I can tell you

On a slightly more serious note, avoid Madam Tausaudes unless you really like that kind of thing, I seem to remember it was much like London. Over priced and a bit dull.

Most things are related to drug or sex, we found a sex museum that was interesting. Don't know if it's "The" sex museum or if there's more than one. Think it was down the main drag in front of the train station though. Right hand side.
