I am actually really proud of the retro gamer article,for once they got it just right.
its a really interesting read with the untold story of how the game got dumped into mame.

i was told this story a year ago and was told to keep quite but finally its out the bag and the sky skipper story is complete.

well worth the read guys as its not about me but the history of the game and the whole team behind resurrecting the game.

huge thanks to Van burnham the author of supercade for writing this article,she has some amazing contacts and was able to speak to julian Eggebrecht from factor five,Don james from NOA and Howard Philips who was responsible for setting up Nintendo of America.

So much work and research, and dare I say it
"luck" in finding the board at the start.
Well worth it to see a so nearly extinct cabinet.
Great work Alex.
An amazing build true to the original.

Stole the pic from a Facebook group called Arcade Collectors Worldwide. Apparently the marquee is an original from one of the location test cabinets. The OP will try to get it scanned. I'm not sure about the current status of the Skyskipper project now, but surely a scan of this would help to pin down the exact color values.Arch2019-10-02 11:00:42

Hmmm, not convinced that's an original. No fading, no marks from the retainers and the colours look exactly the same as my first sample print I did. Show me a close up I'll tell for sure.

Scans from the original have all ready been done.
Cool if it is original but there is a lot of knock offs floating around at the moment.

If it is a repro then I will say they did a better job at reproducing it -

First This is the Japanese magazine flyer for the game -

=========================================

Next is the real one in NOA headquarters -

SS_B_R2.jpg

=========================================

Here is the mysterious gamesdatabase image that I assume most believe is legit as it existed before the game was discovered, no one seems to know where the scan came from however but it was the first known art of the game on the internet -

SS_C_R3.jpg

=========================================

Next is Alex's official reproduction -

SS_D_F1.jpg

=========================================

And finally is the one that has just appeared -

=========================================

Ignore the colours and perspectives just look at the shape of the cloud circling first letters of Nintendo

It's either an original or somebody else has reproduced it from a scan of the original as it's definitely different than the one Olly did.

If it was original though, shouldn't it have more blue above the top cloud?

Surely if you put that in a cab the marquee retainer would cover the little bit of sky that's showing and clip into the cloud so it wouldn't look like the NOA marquee once in place?
